Problem With Plumbing - Advice needed!

Doesn't seem to be anything external, it's a terraced town house, and there's definitely nothing on the front or back. There's a bathroom on the top floor as well as this one (this is middle floor), and there's no problem up there. I would imagine there's an air admittance valve on the stack...

Problem With Plumbing - Advice needed!

Not yet, the wife would kill me if I started dismantling the bathroom at this time. Heavily pregnant women aren't the most agreeable at the best of times! I took this picture of the fall from the S trap. Does this look about right, or a bit shallow? I tried to get it as straight as I could, but...

Problem With Plumbing - Advice needed!

What should I look out for? As you can probably tell from the rest of this thread, I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing when it comes to plumbing! However, I am starting to doubt whether it IS the soil stack, as there is no smell in any other room. I managed to see inside the wall, and it...

Problem With Plumbing - Advice needed!

Cheers mate. Got a little un on the way in a few months, her nursery is supposed to be in the room next to this. Don't want to risk leaving it as-is if there's any risk from this.

Problem With Plumbing - Advice needed!

What are the odds on this working? I filled the bath and smelled the overflow as it drained as recommended by @blueincy but it smelled normal, no foul smell at all. Would a too-shallow s-bend do this?

Problem With Plumbing - Advice needed!

No damage or water marks of any kind on the floor under the bath. Also no water damage or sagging to the ceiling of the kitchen directly below the bath.

Problem With Plumbing - Advice needed!

Just taken the pictures above mate. All the piping goes into/ behind the walls. Doesn't seem to be a way to get a look at the join between the pipes and the stack without knocking through the plasterboard to follow it. As the smell isn't coming from the sink, which seems to connect with the...

Going to get on to Barratt Homes first thing Monday, see what they have to say about things.

Problem With Plumbing - Advice needed!

So I took the panel off the bath and took a couple of pictures of what's going on under there. Can anyone see anything out of the ordinary? The black plastic sheeting seems to have been put in to try and keep the smell out by whichever cowboy last looked at it! No idea what the random vent...

Problem With Plumbing - Advice needed!

Even if the smell is mainly coming from the drain in the bath on the other side of the room? If you think it'd help, I'll happily do it, but the boxing runs the entire length of the bathroom and also holds the sink, a cupboard, and I'd probably have to remove tiles to get it off. Just want to...

Bottom of the 2nd page before this joke was made. Sometimes I'm a little surprised/ disappointed in Bluemoon ;)

Problem With Plumbing - Advice needed!

The smell is there the whole time, sometimes it's worse than other times. The whole bathroom isn't used a great deal, other than for the occasional bath, and the toilet if guests are around d. However, I've been flushing the toilet regularly, and have used a bathroom sink unblocker in there...

That's the thing, there's no smell anywhere else but in the bathroom.

Problem With Plumbing - Advice needed!

I've checked, it's only covered for plumbing issue below ground level, unless the work has been signed off by the NHBC, which it doesn't seem to have been.

Not sure if they've scoped it to find out where the problem is before, no. Would all insurers cover this work as standard?

But is this a legal obligation? The surveyor came back with nothing either. If it was my house that I was selling, I think I'd 'forget' too!

Behind cabinets in the kitchen. I did think it seemed expensive for the work that needs doing though. Cheers for the advice guys, think I'll get a 2nd opinion before going ahead with it!

Problem With Plumbing - Advice needed!

Smell is coming up through the drains from the bath. Apparently the soil pipe hasn't been connected to the vent. Or something like that. They'll need to go through a wall in the bathroom and maybe the kitchen below to get to it :(
