It is quite clear that trump will not even try to get Russia to acquiesce ro any meaningful peace deal.

It still is necessary for Ukraine to capitulate in this way. You couldn't withdraw without one and built sufficient defensive permissions. But that's a thought experiment as Ukraine won't accept these surrender terms.
