    It's Quiet the £250m return

Probably due to buyback and sell on agreements included, which always push the price down. Viana seems to be pushing for these in all our Academy sales at the moment.

Manuel Akanji | Rumours of an Inter loan deal

You’re right, it’s a risk given Stones and Ake’s injury history - but in that scenario, we’d still be able to play Gvardiol (our player of the season last year) and Khusanov. Who are hardly bad options! In fact, many would probably choose those two as their preferred pairing at CB anyway. Just...

Manuel Akanji | Rumours of an Inter loan deal

It’s a risk, for sure - but with six CBs, and the need to trim the squad back to comply with CL/PL restrictions, I can see why Akanji is the one to go. Both Stones and Ake, despite being chronically injury prone, are on the Homegrown list - which we don’t need to lose any players from - whereas...

Rico Lewis | Set to sign a new 5-year contract (pg33)

Fantastic news! Hopefully that puts that one to bed. Yesterday did seem to be a pretty clear message from both the Manager and the player that he wasn’t going anywhere - but it’s always good to see that confirmed.

Rico Lewis | Set to sign a new 5-year contract (pg33)

Brilliant - same as last time. No evidence to support what you’re saying, which was my point in the first post. Meanwhile you can read what he’s said about his future this summer from the Bild interview - which bears no relation to what you’re claiming. Enjoy the game later, Blue.

Rico Lewis | Set to sign a new 5-year contract (pg33)

Great - are you happy to share the clip? These are his comments from an interview with Bild earlier this summer, for reference: “Honestly, I want to play football for several more years, because I feel absolutely ready, very fit, and I take care of my body. I feel I really enjoy football: not...

Rico Lewis | Set to sign a new 5-year contract (pg33)

He’s never said he wanted to play for City for two years from summer ‘24, then become a coach. Which is what you keep suggesting. There’s no evidence whatsoever to support this assumption. He’s been clear he wants to be a coach in the future - but he’s also been clear as recently as this...

Rico Lewis | Set to sign a new 5-year contract (pg33)

And for the umpteenth time, you’ve got no clear evidence to support this statement. Whatsoever. Just because it makes sense inside your head, doesn’t make it true. We’ve been through this before, and you didn’t provide any clear evidence last time round. It’s boring going over the same...

Ederson | Deal agreed with Fenerbahce

This feels like a missed opportunity mate. Let’s call it £65m for Savinho, £35m for Rico and £15m for Eddie - that gets us to the magic number of……………. I’d be absolutely furious if the Club/Viana didn’t immediately identify this exceptional opportunity for a spot of trolling the rest of the...

Rico Lewis | Set to sign a new 5-year contract (pg33)

We’d have to pay way over the odds to get him - and he’s just not worth anything near the £70/80m it would need to get Newcastle to consider letting him go. He’s not that good. My view is we may look at a non-homegrown option late in the window, dependent on sales - if we can shift Gundo...

Rico Lewis | Set to sign a new 5-year contract (pg33)

Well said mate! The attitude to a 20 year old Blue from our Academy who has come into a struggling side, has played a frequently complex role in the team, has never hidden or shirked responsibility whatever role we’ve asked him to play, and has contributed with almost 100 first team appearances...

    It's Quiet the £250m return

I’d be ok with that, but our one glaring gap in the squad would remain unaddressed - which is a mistake, in my opinion. Donnarumma for Eddie and Rodrygo for Savinho brings very little net gain - we’re essentially swapping like for like, and whether the new two are any better than the old is...

Rico Lewis | Set to sign a new 5-year contract (pg33)

Delighted to hear it! We should be keeping him and continuing his development at City.

    The Squad planning thread

I’d be happy with either (or even both) of those two leaving, to be honest. We’re well covered in both positions, and frankly neither of them are part of our long term future. That said - I can’t see either of them finding a deal, so I’d say we’re stuck with them both at least til January...

Savinho | City reject Spurs approach

I’m in exactly the boat on this one mate. If he stays - great. He’s 21, and he’s come off the back of his first season in the PL. He’s shown plenty to suggest he’ll get better from here. If he goes - we replace him with someone of equal quality, and we move on. We’ll hardly miss his...

Gianluigi Donnarumma | Done deal according to Romano

Which is all the more impressive given he’s operating in a ferociously competitive field!

Savinho | City reject Spurs approach

Zero. There’s no way Spurs would agree to that deal - nor the player either, I’d imagine. They’d essentially be accepting they were developing the player for us, for a moderate fee - which Spurs’s delusions of grandeur would never allow. Once he’s gone - he’s gone.

Gianluigi Donnarumma | Done deal according to Romano

Really good summary, and I completely agree - Ederson’s impact on the way we play (and as a consequence, how the rest of the PL now try and play too) has been integral to all our recent success. He’s single handedly revolutionised the way we all now look at GKs and their attributes in English...
