What Did We Think Of Our Midfield Today? A Lot Going On?

I made this post in the Squad Planning thread the other day, after the Villa defeat. Weird to see it come to life today with that narrow 4-2-3-1 formation, with Bernardo dropping to support Gonzalez and Cherki & Doku tucking in to get closer to Haaland.

    11 | Jeremy Doku - 2025/26

    New role today. Liked it.

    27 | Matheus Nunes - 2025/26

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    9 | Erling Haaland - 2025/26

Two goals off 100 in the Premier League. He's got 16 games to beat Shearer's record.

    14 | Nico Gonzalez - 2025/26

    Hey whaddya know.

    14 | Nico Gonzalez - 2025/26

Brilliant today. What a great signing. Staggering how many wrote him off last season.

    8 | Mateo Kovacic - 2025/26

Think he'll be gone in the summer. Has fallen down the pecking order, can't stay fit, will be the last chance to get any money for him. I've liked him a fair bit here, more than most, but these injury issues are racking up now.

Bournemouth (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Good performance there. We're definitely seeing a new kind of City now. One that lets opponents play themselves into trouble and hits them unexpectedly. 0.72xG from Bournemouth (a chunk of which was from the corner goal) from 52% possession is an encouraging stat from our perspective.

Match Thread | Manchester City vs. Bournemouth (02/11/25)

Gonna need to see Taylor's decisions on TV before deciding what kind of game he's had. Anyway, we're playing well. Dangerous in different ways, atmosphere is up and the players are responding. But I'm a bit surprised at how poor Bournemouth's back line has been. Hope we don't rue those missed...

Huntingdon Train Incident - Reports of multiple stabbings

It's something that's mutating, malignant, and spreading and turning up in areas where it shouldn't. I think describing it as a cancer is apt. I appreciate your point, but this is like saying you can't say one team has "battered" the other after a big 4-0 win. "Battering someone is battering...

Huntingdon Train Incident - Reports of multiple stabbings

Two British nationals arrested but that's only been confirmed after 12 hours of wanton racist speculation about it being from "small boat people", all from the usual suspects on the usual websites. Even now it's been confirmed that the two attackers were British nationals, Tommy Robinson is...

    Bournemouth (H) - Sun 2nd Nov, 16:30 | PL | Pre-Match Thread

I really can't tell if this is going to be a tough game for City, or if Bournemouth will shrink in sight of the Etihad Stadium like they have done so many times over the years. I don't think they've been all that convincing, even in this run they're on, but they have the weapons to hurt us...

Huntingdon Train Incident - Reports of multiple stabbings

But it absolutely does. You see it on here and on social media every time something like this happens. Lots of people desperate for the attackers to belong to one particular group or another.

Huntingdon Train Incident - Reports of multiple stabbings

It's been happening slowly and we all know what it is. Covid/lockdown just sped the process up. Combine that with everyone being (and feeling) worse off than they were 10-15 years ago. A nice little recipe for Nutbag Nation there.

Huntingdon Train Incident - Reports of multiple stabbings

All I'll say is thank god our gun laws are what they are, because from where I'm sitting we are becoming more and more like America every day. There has always been violence in this country - there is likely less now than there was 200 years ago - but the sheer number of violent attacks has...

    21 | Rayan Ait-Nouri - 2025/26

Was he? I thought he was alright and gave us a decent outlet on the left. The grey line is the point when he was subbed off.

    21 | Rayan Ait-Nouri - 2025/26

He'll be fine. He's not actually been properly fit for any game this season. He was warming up during hi 90 mins against Wolves after the summer and played well. Then he got injured after 25 mins against Spurs (which was the point the game fell apart for us), and then he hasn't been fully fit...

Swansea City (A) | EFL Cup | Post Match Thread

We were obviously the better team throughout, but fuck me did we make hard work of it at times. Loose first touches at points, wayward passing sometimes, and frequent indecision in the final third as well. The first XI looked strong on paper but I think, in the end, we had too many players who...

League Cup Quarter Final Draw | Brentford (H)

City, Newcastle, Palace, and Chelsea in the final four, I reckon. Let's win this. Love this cup.

Great finish Cherki. He's deserved a goal. MOTM.
