14 | Nico Gonzalez - 2025/26

He, Nunes, Gvadiol and Foden are really beginning to join Dias, Haaland & Rodri as stand out senior players. O’Reily getting there also.
The league might be a push too far for this new team. But they’re really growing. Bournemouth’s biggest strengths are Semeyo’s power running and their insane press. Nunes stopped one and Nico withstood the other really well.

I actually think he's shown enough to be trusted. Tidy on the ball, comfortable throwing his weight around, blends in with the play nicely. Sometimes gets caught beyond the ball, which Pep won't like, but him next to Rodri with Reijnders and Cherki/Foden in attacking positions looks like it could be really effective next season.
Hey whaddya know.

I must be seeing something else. I dont know why many are shockingly impressed of late. He has NEVER not been good

His biggest issues was getting hobbled after being clattered. Which i think has happened in 3 games.

And then Pep didn't play him for a period, which had people concluding Pep didn't rate him and thus he isn't good.

But when he actually played, he was good. Even when he didn't fully understand the system.

Like everything about him.

The passing in particular has defo improved.

I thought the rest was what I've mostly always seen and been impressed by.

But he is slowing his tempo for passing, and rushing at the right moments.

He directly contributed to the first 2 goals with his passing.

The most important thing he needs to “improve” is his pain threshold.

Knocks at Leyton Orient and Villarreal have meant he’s missed games we needed him for.

Of course, I may be doing him a disservice, but before the ACL, Rodri was never injured with things like these.

Maybe if Rodri had missed a few more games with innocuous injuries we might’ve invested in a suitable backup sooner

I always used to call Rodri “baby busquets” and have now started to call Nico “baby Rodri”. Exceptional player. Really want to see him in a double pivot with Rodri once he’s back fully fit.
