    It's Quiet the £250m return

I really don’t think this thread of all threads is the right thread for anyone to be calling out anyone else for alleged dishonesty. Some glass houses are better left stoneless surely?

    Rodrygo

He’s very talented but I think the average football fan assumes he’s better than he is. ‘Brazilian winger, very pacy, he must be great.’ He’s very good but I don’t think he’d come into our team and immediately be one of the best players.

    It's Quiet the £250m return

I’ll stick up for the board here and say that replacing KDB with someone of anywhere near equal ability is absolutely impossible - and from what we’ve heard it sounds like Reijnders could be a great signing.

    It's Quiet the £250m return

You’re absolutely right - I just don’t know if someone like James McAtee would make an inferior contribution if we gave him all the minutes we intend to give to MGW.

PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

They’ve done the sufficient reputational damage, I don’t think they’ll be in any rush anymore

    It's Quiet the £250m return

I feel that we can do better than Morgan Gibbs-White, not only because he averages a goal contribution every three and a half appearances, but also because I’ve watched him play at least a dozen times a season for the last five or six years. If he signs for us I will be fully behind him, of...

    It's Quiet the £250m return

I’m happy for us to spend £150m on Wirtz because I watch him and think ‘yeah, this guy will be one of the best players in the world.’ Personally, I watch MGW and think ‘yeah, this is one of the best creative midfielders England have produced in his generation’. But not really City level, I feel.

Grealish left out of the CWC squad (pg34)

That Arsenal game - he was fucking brilliant. I don’t think he was the right signing but in those moments when he managed to hit his best levels he was awesome to watch.

Grealish left out of the CWC squad (pg34)

In all seriousness, I hope he’s alright and if he isn’t, I hope he will be alright in the near future. He’s always come across as a good man.

    It's Quiet the £250m return

Maybe his attitude is great, I don’t know him personally so I can’t say. I do however remember him getting Rodri sent off a couple of years back and he did so in a way that I’d rather our players didn’t replicate.

    It's Quiet the £250m return

With all due respect, I’d argue that MGW hasn’t proven he can succeed against parked buses either. Don’t get me wrong, what Forest have done this season is impressive, but they have been an incredibly counter-attacking team. Gibbs-White seems to usually excel when he’s on the counter.

    It's Quiet the £250m return

The idea that Gibbs-White is a top three player in England this season is, to put it bluntly, exactly the kind of mentality that lead to us breaking our transfer record for Grealish even though (I think we can be honest about this now) we all knew on some level that he wasn’t worth the fee...

    Florian Wirtz

Said this before but I’m not very interested in a player who’s primary decision-making process is ‘where do mummy and daddy want me to go?’. That’s not the mentality a top club should be after.

Match Thread | Man City vs. Bournemouth (20/05/25)

Definitely some parallels between this season and Pep's first. Started strong, quickly went to shit and then seemed to find some rythym at the end to rescue Champions League space (hopefully) but then marred a good finish to the season with a shocker at Wembley.

PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

I'm starting to think that it won't happen until this has all dragged on so long that we've basically forgotten about it.

    Joke thread

I got kidknapped in Stockholm once. Nice guy. I keep breaking into bull enclosures at night wearing a red shirt. The police are investigating but I still haven't been charged. My baby daughter is called Penny, which is a lot of pressure, because if I drop her there's a 50% chance she'll land...

Match Thread | Man City vs. Aston Villa (22/04/25)

It's a wonderful feeling to see Bernardo back on the scoresheet. Fully on-board with Marmoush too - the imperfections he sometimes displays really don't seem very important when you compare them to the many positive moments he's had already.

    8 | Mateo Kovačić - 2024/25

He's a tricky one because I don't think his overall play has lived up to our better midfielders of the last 15 years, not even close. But he's become a goal threat here which I'm incredibly grateful for - especially since he wasn't really one at all for most of his career.

    7 | Omar Marmoush - 2024/25

Does fall into the same category as a lot of modern players where people just expect him to perform equally well no matter where in the front three he plays. Wasn't at his best today but still easily the best available option up there, IMO.
