Real Madrid post match post mortem

Travelled 'Darn Sarf' yesterday to spend the weekend with Daughter No.2's family and, with the distaff side, take the train in from Beaconsfield for the semi-final tomorrow to meet up with our family/friends group. Just got back from the local garden centre at Bourne End where I queued at the...

    Media Discussion - 2023/24

Agreed. And as far as that the likes of that g*bsh*te Ronay is concerned, mention of the Nazis (nb I know you meant this in another context) reminds me of the fact that MY club stood up to Hitler et al when OUR PLAYERS as English champions REFUSED to perform the 'Sieg Heil' salute prior to...

Perhaps twunts like Ronay might try doing a bit of reading and consider the whole 'grotesque project' that has been Real Madrid (and to a lesser, yet still significant extent, Barcelona) ever since Franco got his murderous mitts on the glory that is the beautiful country of Spain. Complete...

    Jude Bellingham

Deary, deary me.. Posted on here a while ago that I told my daughters when they were young that they could have their own choice of partner/swain/'Young Lochinvar' but with the following definite exceptions: (a) NO United fans (b) NO Liverpool fans (c) NO glottal stops I would probably have...

    Jude Bellingham

Not what I ever want to see at my club, on or off the pitch, ever. Should change his name by deed poll to 'Wayne Kerr'..

How's your mood after the RM game?

More hacked off that I got back to Piccadilly after that late, late show to discover my last train home had been cancelled and every alternative route/train via Stockport was delayed and criminally overcrowded, plus all the buses finished and taxis at a premium when I got there! (..integrated...

Exactly. Sancho's another Bertie Big-B*ll*cks who's paid too much attention to the crawlers and hangers-on around him and spaffed his talent up the toilet wall. Personally, I'd still pick this fella, Charles 'Charlie' Charles of 'The Arzenal'/'The Fast Show', well ahead of Sancho these days. He...

    Media Discussion - 2023/24

I'm weighing up a couple of potential responses to this. Perhaps you might help me choose?: (a) One team I'd played for during student days recruited a new and pretty good, by all accounts, goalkeeper. On meeting him, I thought he was something of a 'Bertie Big-B*ll*cks' but in the first game...

    Liverpool Thread - 2023/24

It started with the game up at St James's which I watched live with my Toon chum in York. He bemoaned Newcastle's profligacy that day against 10 men, letting Liverpool come back for a late 2-1 win and he cursed 'the slutchy Scouse so-and-sos'. I said that the result would probably kick-start...

Wear all blue next week? Like Real did in white!

You'll only ever prise my mottled shades of brown cardigan and my beige Sta-Prest action slacks from my cold, dead body.. C'mon you Blues, finish the job next week!

PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Don't know about you but to me The Viking and The King of The Diddymen could've been separated at birth.. (NB.. My guide dog likes them both too!)

    CP Company replace D2Squared

I'm just sorry Dunn & Co. is no longer around.. It was the go-to provider for all one's cardie and tweed requirements..

Real Madrid (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

I started on a comment in the immediate aftermath of last night's game but didn't complete or post it because I wanted to think about whether I'd fallen guilty to hyperbole or whatever.. but.. ..having now processed what I witnessed when watching us on TV last night, I am sure that it was one...

Intellectually, 'Mongo' is Sherlock Holmes's smarter brother Mycroft when compared to those f*ckwits posting on the BBC, the Daily Mail, the Guardian etc football pages..

Absolutely! To borrow from the glorious 'Blazing Saddles', when The Waco Kid (Gene Wilder) consoles Sheriff Bart (Cleavon Little): "What did you expect? 'Welcome, sonny'? 'Make yourself at home'? 'Marry my daughter'? You've got to remember that these are just simple (football fans). These...

Stunning though both Rashford's and Foden's strikes were in the 'derby', yet there were other 'Goal of the Month' contenders which I'd have placed ahead of them both, in terms of technique and 'spectacular-ness'. Soucek's for West Ham would've got my vote, because of the initial control and...

    VAR Discussion Thread - 2023/24

What you describe is commonsense, dear fellow Blue, especially the bit about the impact of 'subjective calls on subjective decisions' but.. ..the footballing authorities (including the PL, FA, UEFA & FIFA) using commonsense? That's surely an oxymoron?! As Ralph Waldo Emerson once put it...

'Old News' or what?!?! To be honest, I'm surprised it's taken so long for the rest of the football world, nay the rest of wider society on this rock we're all on hurtling through space-time together even, to catch on to the fact that City winning the title year after year is 'boring'. I mean...

    New song for Foden

That was Pilot, a great 70s Scottish pop band fronted by David Paton. Also had the incredible Ian Bairnson on guitar.. if I recall correctly, he picked using an old sixpenny piece. For sure, he created one of the greatest guitar solos ever at the end of 'Wuthering Heights' by Kate Bush!
