    United (H) December 15th

It used to be 2 additional matches. As they haven’t released any more Season Tickets you don’t need to be Sherlock to work out they are holding more tickets back to flog on to half and half scarf Tourists at vastly increased prices. It is getting to the point of why bother with a membership at £35

    Higher rate pension tax relief

Yes you are over thinking it a bit. The number of employers you have in a tax year is irrelevant. Your higher rate tax calculation is based on YOUR total taxable income so exclude the first £30k of redundancy. Say for example £10k of your taxable income is at the higher rate of 40%. If YOUR...

    Higher rate pension tax relief

So it’s not down to redundancy as you originally stated. In order to claim higher rate tax relief you need to complete a Self Assessment Tax Return for that tax year. The tax saved does not go in to your pension pot, you can opt to 1)have a tax rebate 2)use it as a deduction for any amounts...

    United (H) December 15th

They couldn’t run a bath. Why don’t the lazy bastards just change the ticket site from restricted sale to sold out. I will guarantee there will be plenty of tourists with their half and half scarves at the match.

    2024 - a tough year or a good one?

Nothing has really changed this year , good or bad and that is exactly how I prefer it. The last time me and my Mrs said it would be better to have a bit more going on in our lives it came back to bite us. If nothing really bad happens, consider it a good year.

Who runs a business and how's trade?

So true, if they put the prices up customers go elsewhere. More and more regulations and it’s only going to get worse. Those who just turn up each day, get a regular wage and go home each day without a care in the world have no idea of the pressures of running a business.

    Positive BBC thread

You don’t consider those constantly repeated trailers in between programmes, often about how good we are with your BBC, more irritating than adverts

    Life as a single

Now you are fibbing Mr K. You would have moaned about how unfair the world is, you just cannot help yourself in most threads. Oh, by the way, there would have been no chance of you doing that, had you needed the toilet you would have been directed to the downstairs one and there was no bath or...

    Life as a single

You do amuse me. In fact many moons ago me and my Mrs met up with her mate and her husband for a night out. We were newlyweds and they had been married a while and had 2 kids. We had just bought a 5 bed house and they were stuck in a 2 bed house with the 2 kids. He spent the whole night moaning...

    Life as a single

The women I am talking about don’t need a man to dig the gold for them. They are capable of standing on their own two feet whether it be financially or bringing other valuable attributes that are necessary for a successful relationship.

    Life as a single

“Modern women” eh you do make me smile. It’s a bit like the political speak “hard working” families. They are just words. All the women I have ever met are more impressed with self made men, not frightened of expressing an opinion, who posses a bit of spunk and don’t blame their own...

    Life as a single

Wow Mr K. Not sure whether you are just obsessed or brainwashed. If you let any of these guys influence any relationship you have with anyone I think how you see the world is more distorted to almost a crackpot level.

    Premium bonds

Rest assured, taxing any sort of prize money, either premium bonds, lottery or competition , isn’t going to happen. The Government adjust the interest rate instead. Many deposit accounts pay higher interest rates and for those on low income there is no tax to pay on the interest.

    Savings

Isn’t that what has just happened. According to the forecasters the budget is going to make +/- half of 1% change in living standards over the next few years. Those who thought voting for any particular party was going to make a change in their individual circumstances was seriously delusional.

    Savings

Firstly I would rather be in charge of my own money than have some so called pension expert invest it for me, fuck it up and charge me annually for the privilege. Best thing to do if you retire before state pension age is to draw down on a private pension, get the 25% tax free deduction and...

    Savings

I have got out of share dealing and gone in to long term savings and land purchases. I have already had the Local Authority contact me, Labour controlled, to see if I would be prepared to include it in their land bank as an area for suitable development.

Stupid little things that bug you

As an Accountant ( now retired) I was often by my clients what was the difference between tax avoidance and tax evasion and the answer was very simple… the thickness of the prison walls
