Newcastle United (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Fair result, to be honest. Could've won it, but could easily have lost it too. Frustrating game throughout, though, and a very tough one to watch sitting on my hands in with the Geordies. Seems like this Newcastle team has got the right idea with Erling, as he's "only" scored once against them...

    Newcastle United (A) - Sat 28th Sept, 12:30 | PL | Pre-Match Thread

Believe me, when I lived out on the coast up here, I've ended up at the Airport after a night out once or twice...!

Kingston Park's your best bet, just off the A1, just make sure you take the Airport Metro when you leave Newcastle, not the coast one!

    Newcastle United (A) - Sat 28th Sept, 12:30 | PL | Pre-Match Thread

If you don't want to drive into Newcastle, your best option is parking at Kingston Park and taking the Metro. There's a car park right next to the Metro station (on the right just after the level crossing if you're coming from the south, past Tesco). If you want to park in Newcastle, I usually...

    Breaking records/stats thread

Where do they get this crap from? I'm not expecting all graphics makers to know City's histroy, but can they not use Wikipedia, FFS. Complete bollocks, Raheem isn't even in the Top 10, never mind 2nd. Bell & Lee both scored more, the previous top goal scorer before Sergio, Eric Brook, is...

    Champions League Draw - 29th August '24 | Opponents (pg69) | Fixtures (pg128)

New CL channel but same old story. Their sales pitch is that they are showing the "top pick" every Tuesday matchday... which of course means 2 Scousers, 2 Arse and only 1 City (and no Villa, which surely their first game back in Europe in week 1 is a bigger game than the dippers?)

    Champions League Draw - 29th August '24 | Opponents (pg69) | Fixtures (pg128)

Not really. The team's own coefficient makes no difference to the teams it could draw. We all got 2 teams each from Pot 1, Pot 2, Pot 3 and Pot 4. Despite being a worse team than City in CL coefficient terms, we could both have got each other's draw (except we couldn't draw Villa), so any way...

    Champions League Draw - 29th August '24 | Opponents (pg69) | Fixtures (pg128)

to be fair, it's pretty close based on coefficients. For sure, Liverpool have drawn pretty much the toughest team from Pot 1 and Pot 2, and you could argue our average coefficient is high because we drew the top 2 from Pot 3 and 2 of the 3 top ranked teams from Pot 4 (not sure how Bratislava get...

    Champions League Draw - 29th August '24 | Opponents (pg69) | Fixtures (pg128)

**NERD ALERT** Quite like the new format, 8 different teams to play, including a couple of new opponents. But I still don't like the draw - there's simply no advantage to be in Pot 1. Anyway, statistically, we've got one of the harder draws. If you go by average coefficients of the teams...

    Champions League Draw - 29th August '24 | Opponents (pg69) | Fixtures (pg128)

Yes, I get that bit. But say, for example, the rags miraculously qualify again in a few years. There's no longer any disadvantage to them to be low down the coefficients, as they'd have the same chances of drawing good and bad teams regardless of pot. In effect, being continuously successful...

    Champions League Draw - 29th August '24 | Opponents (pg69) | Fixtures (pg128)

So is there any advantage at all to being in Pot 1 for the draw? It seems to me that Aston Villa - in Pot 4 - is just as likely as City - in Pot 1 - to play any other team. It's entirely possible for a Pot 4 team to end up with a much easier draw than a Pot 1 team, isn't it?

    Ederson

Nonsense. The guy had been kneed in the face, almost knocked out cold, knew he was injured and that he would be taking no further part in the game or the rest of the season. If he wasn't angry about that, I'd be worried.

Pep Guardiola - MotS for the fifth time.

Same with the player of the season, not a single player of the month award for Phil (nor any other City player...!)

How many times have you been to Wembley??

Good question... bit pathetic, only 5 visits. With City, only 3 times (1 win on penalties, 2 losses), plus two other visits before that. 1989: Wigan - St Helens (RL Challenge Cup!) 1992: Stockport County - Peterborough (Play-offs) 1999: City - Gillingham (Play-offs) 2011: City - Rags (Community...

    First Away Game

Blackburn Away, April 1995, the season they won the Premier League. Looked like we'd given the rags a helping hand, but Rovers held on for the title! Seem to remember it was their only home defeat that season...? I remember Hendry scoring a screamer (of course), but we fought back to win 3-2 (I...

    Media Discussion - 2023/24

It was on Facebook, and loads of (presumably new) fans commenting away happily. I called it out as bollocks. Just such a strange list. So much wrong with it, but to includes Tuear (and so not just PL era) but exclude Lee and Bell! Just weird
