£160,000 a week is *&%"ing ridiculous!

It is one of the weird things that has happened since ADUG took over. People who seem to think 90k a week is perfectly ok, have started quibbling about larger amounts. Personally, I reckon 10k a week is too much for merely playing football if we're going to get all moralistic about it. It's the way it is, good footballers get paid shit loads of money these days, not worth worrying about. They don't get the bus to the ground with the supporters anymore either, who cares?

It is like paying Al Pacino £20M to star in Robocop 4 as otherwise he would stay well clear.

Does he give an oscar winning performance?

If you dont know what 'the hills' is. Find out. Watch it without trying to kill yourself. Then find out how much the 'actors' are paid per episode for that.

Football's entertainment. The wages reflect this.

Not my money, not my problem. If Sheikh Mansour wants to spend that on players to make his club a success so be it.

We didn't start this, You have to looks to the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea for this trend.

People said the same about Tevez and he did OK.

Mancini told me he was looking for local lads who were willing to refuse 100k a week and play for free but none were any good so we're stuck signing decent players.

-- Wed Jun 30, 2010 11:14 pm --

Exactly how I look at it.

We need to compete or die. I'm glad we're competing.

Also completely agree re the money, the Shiekh is meant to be loaded, it isn't my money so if he wants to spend X amount here and there then let him.

footballers get paid more than doctors & so on thats a joke but thats how it is nowadays cant do anything about it

For the second time. I am not blaming one club. City are following a trend and maybe taking it a bit further, but we are not responsible.

I am saying that the market as it is will ruin football. There will be 3 EPL clubs max, maybe just 2, or even only 1, that can compete at the highest level against a handful of other super rich clubs across Europe.

I'm also thinking that it is, just is, stupid money to be paid per week.

5 or 6 years wages for a lot of people watching paid to the players every single week!

It's just mad.

It is but it's the same in most walks of 'celebrity' now, goons like Jim Carrey and Julia Roberts get 30/40m a film etc etc.

The inevitable outcome in a capitalist celeb worshipping world.

Tragic and sick but fuck all we can do about it.

Try protesting it and you'll be beaten or disappear.

Just roll with it and enjoy the ride.
