Nicky Reid and Caton were rapid. Reeves and Asa still decent.

Caton was like a kitten on ice. Reid was okay but bit too headstrong.
Reeves - bang average. Asa was past it.
We’d gone from the fantastic tram of ‘77 that had genuine “top players” Watson, Donachie Barnes Owen peak Tueart peak Corrigan , peak Asa, Royle, Kidd, to Graham fucking Baker, Kinsey etc in the space of 5 mismanaged years where Mal hollowed out the team aided and abetted by PJS.,

I well remember Age Hareide in that eminently average City team of that era. Mainly because we shared the same nickname (Oggy) but also because he was a decent signing at the time. A typical Scandinavian 100% player for us, never spectacular but usually reliable. Hope he pulls through OK.

Fun fact. David Cross' daughter is Kate Cross who plays cricket for England and is next door neighbour of my folks.

And his son Bobby kept wicket for Lancashire 2nd's for a couple of seasons and was a top class league player for Heywood.
Only gave pro cricket up to go into law.
