“City in crisis”

Being generous, yes.

It's a poor run of form, after 4 years of titles, injuries to key players both positionally and personality, over playing the non injured players, ageing players, some signings not yet being good enough, and indifferent form from existing players. In effect it's the perfect storm.

However, we are second and Pep has extended his contract. Life as a City fan, could be (and has been) a lot worse. Judge us at the end of the season, because there is a long way to go and two more years after that for Pep to do it again.
Yep, it was never going on forever. Football just isnt like that. These times were always somewhere down the road, and here we are. As we were saying on the coach going home from the match last night, welcome back to feeling shit on Sunday morning again. For a lot of us on here it used to be every week, but it'll be a culture shock for a lot of people who've never experienced it before. Get over it, this club is now too well run for the current run to continue for long and we'll bounce back. So what if we don't win the league again this season ? 4 in a row was beyond my wildest dreams.

Ending a losing streak is as much about mentality as it is about tactical adjustments. For Manchester City, a club with immense talent and depth, here are some key strategies to turn their fortunes around:

1. Reassess Tactics and Formation

Pep Guardiola is known for his tactical flexibility. If City are losing, it might be worth adjusting their formation or tweaking their game plan. This could involve:

Switching to a more defensive setup temporarily to build confidence.

Using quicker transitions to counteract teams pressing them high.

Leveraging their wide players more if the center is congested.

2. Focus on Defensive Solidity

Recent losses often stem from defensive lapses. To shore up the defense:

Rotate in fresher defenders if fatigue is an issue.

Use a defensive midfielder, like Rodri, to protect the back line more effectively.

Work on set-piece defense, a traditional vulnerability for many teams.

3. Mental Reset

Team Meetings: A clear, honest meeting to address issues without blame.

Sports Psychology: Bringing in a psychologist to help players refocus and regain confidence.

Leadership: Leaning on senior players like Kevin De Bruyne (if fit) or Ruben Dias to rally the squad.

4. Rotating Key Players

Fatigue, physical or mental, might be a factor. Giving key players a rest and using squad depth can revitalize the team. Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva, or new signings can inject fresh energy.

5. Simplify the Approach

City's intricate style sometimes fails against compact defenses. Simplifying the play — quicker passes, more direct runs, and shots from outside the box — can yield results.

6. Use Fixture Dynamics

Target "easier" games to rebuild confidence and momentum. Rotate less and field the strongest XI in these matches to ensure victory.

7. Back to Basics in Training

Emphasize core defensive drills and finishing techniques.

Focus on pressing patterns and maintaining high intensity for 90 minutes.

8. Maintain Guardiola’s Trust

It’s essential Guardiola backs his system and players publicly. Confidence stems from unity between the manager and the squad.

9. Leverage Home Advantage

Use their home crowd at the Etihad Stadium to regain morale. Strong performances at home can serve as a platform for recovery.

10. Learn from Opponents

Analyze the recent losses to pinpoint specific weaknesses being exploited, and prepare countermeasures for future games.

A winning streak often begins with small improvements in discipline, execution, and confidence. Manchester City have the talent to bounce back; they just need to channel it effectively.

I agree completely with this, the drop in level pretty much overnight suggests team burning out as injuries are preventing rotation, and those coming in are either rushed back, or fit but needing time to get match fit.
I won’t write off the season until mathematical, but we need 3 top players in January even if pay over the odds.
It's the dreaded vicious circle. I hope he uses a few academy players in the rotation to try and get all players fit.
