“City in crisis”

Have a look at what we'd likely need for top 4. We've usually finished 20-30 points clear of fifth place, so we have a huge amount of drop off before it's likely.

Football doesnt work like this....the drop off is already huge.....look at the teams that are beating us and beating us comformtably....its not even difficult for them.....a very poor utd team beat us without any real problem and then there is the likes of bournmouth and a very average spurs team....
Even the one game we won (forest) we had a modicum of luck as they could and probably should have scored a couple.
Prior to yesterday's game, Villa had gained just 3 points on us in the seven league games since this poor run started. This isn't a title battle with Liverpool, where a dropped point is a disaster - the margins are much bigger.

There's obviously no guarantee, but we could go on what would be a pretty average run of form for us till the end of the season, and still easily get fourth place. Remember this team, that many thing are totally past it, had lost just one game in fifty at the start of last month.
Id say there is a very low chance of that watching the performances.....they aint going to suddenly get better - why do you think that will happen when you are watching how the players are????? Its not a blip...its WHERE THEY ARE NOW...this is their leve - this is not a criticism of the players - they have done wonderful amazinf things but they are now past it..they cant go again as they are not physically capable - the main stay of the team is done...KDB, Walker, Stones, Gundo - they aint suddenly going to find their form of two or 3 seasons ago.....and then there is no rodri for most of the season and ZERO gurantee he picks up where he left off when he returns..he is going to need 6 months of playing to get back to the level he was at IF he can as he has had a very serous injury

guaranteed to finish above us - Arsenal, Liverpool Chelsea at the very least

possible finish above us based on performances and basically being better than us at present - Villa and possibly Brighton

Then there is the unpredictable Spurs (who knows with them!!!)

The rags win today and they are 2 pts behind us - we have been a comfortable 15-20 pts more than them every season so that shows you how far we have already fallen - and they are truly shit still!!

You can add Newcastle in there as well as they have at least got some passion and physicality - which is a huge issue for us...there is Zero physicality in our team to even try to drag us through games.

Id normally be very comfortable about beating Everton at home.....this is our next game....and id say its 50-50 if we beat them...

When the biggest issue is the defensive injuries, football works exactly like this.

We're not talking about the form of 2-3 years ago. Injury issues don't last forever, and once injury levels return to something like normal (which history shows does happen), they don't even have to get close to the form they showed in the first three months of this season. It's December now. Up till the start of November, we were top of the table. We won't need to show anything like table topping form to get back into fourth.

I think you're exaggerating how poorly we've been playing (United certainly didn't beat us without any problem), and how deep and unsolvable this drop in form is.

Feels a bit weird to say it but honestly I am loving this season. It's like a welcome spot of R&R from the high intensity of recent seasons. Laughing at the absolute weapons either masquerading as City fans (and for some, who actually are sadly) and the absolute weapons in the media - it's cathartic in many respects. And as long as the players and management of this Club can be given some space to find some much needed and much deserved peace and stability, get fit, rediscover the joy of playing the game they love and prepare to go again next season, I could not give a single shit what happens over the next few months. #Together wasn't just a slogan for the good times.

Bit of sense. You are replying to one of the more hysterical posters though.

The crises for me has to be attributed to the board.

Whonever has decided to let the squad rot is the person who needs to answer why?

If it worked get the plaudits and rightly so but when it doesn’t work and spectacularly backfires who is taking the flak?

Minds need to be focused back on the club not CFG.

The troubles run a bit deeper than injuries. Returning players will improve us no doubt, but they could remain to a certain extent. Confidence, players past their best, players not good enough, lack of fight, mental and physical fatigue to name but a few are all serious issues atm.

One positive for me (and a big one), is that you have to imagine what has happened this season was the intention of the PL/red clubs to happen when the charges first dropped in early 2023. Instead we went on to win the treble and 4 in a row.

I know what you mean about pressure being off, I’ve been transported back 2 decades and will be happy with finding these 17 points for safety … anything else being a bonus.

But all issues that weren't a huge problem before the defenders started falling like flies.
