“City in crisis”

I love a good crisis. Leads to things getting shaken up.

I've said since we won the Champions League that I simply don't care as much about winning anymore. We've completed football and that's not something I was ever arsed about in the first place.

What I do care about is wasting four hours of my life a week on watching a bunch of passionless cunts step out to do the bare minimum that their job entails.

There is absolutely zero excuse for the team to be as timid as it is. I don't know what Pep needs to do to make them all grow a pair of bollocks again but the changes are all I'm looking forward to right now.

Everyone concerned has been kicking the can down the road, it's easy not to change things and continue to expect to get another year out of the players again and again as we keep winning things so it doesn't seem urgent to change.

We've also lost quite a few on the backroom team which likely isn't helping.

Standing still should never be an option even when at the top and that's what we've done.

Even if everyone is fully fit there's no way we can perform as we did with the 5 second press, the lads are just too old now.

Pep and the boss should have been replacing players the last couple of years, sadly time waits for no players.

Kyle & Kev should have been off at the latest this last close season. Bernie should be a seamless singular change this summer etc as it is who we have brought in haven't been up to scratch and haven't had game time anyway over recent seasons. The exception being Gundogan who I'm convinced was brought back for 10 mins at the end of games but is on a Championship level now and almost the first name on the team sheet.

As it is we've got major changes to make and an imbalance in the squad. Nobody to give Haaland a rest/game off & Rodders out with no obvious replacement in the squad so we're hoping after his long injury he's just going to come back as good as he was. He'll be in/out for a couple of months with niggles at the very least.

Has this position come about due to the 115 stuff? Only the club know but we've fucked up from a position of supreme power on the pitch.

I'd expect that to happen in a fashion when Pep went but, to allow it to happen whilst he's in post is almost criminal.

What's the answer? Have we got the money to spend? We should have but, we've let teams catch-up and are the least athletic team in the top 10.

Rant over.

No one knows what is happening behind the scenes, perhaps with tixi stepping down, the new guy has got some planned signings, also a lot of jcl’s arn’t used to seein a bad run of results, but it’s just football, these things happen,it’s been coming for a while now,the high line is destroying us without a decent midfield in front of them

this is starting to feel there’s more to it than a bad run because of Rodri and other injuries

We've always seemed to plan really well in advance and that's gone out of the window.

Of course, a fit squad and a lower back line would greatly help but again we're not dynamic and won't be without big big changes of personnel.

Having acheieved about as much as it's possible over the past 9 years or so and just as the Rags thought they had found a niche for themselves as the comedy club of Manchester we are doing our best to reclaim that title from them. Typical City

This is a bigger issue than just adding a couple of players in January or the summer.
We have more than a few players who are either coming to the end of their careers or are simply not good enough.
We need certain starters, not just squad filler

When signing players, leaderships qualities should come into the thinking.

Savinho
Gvardiol
Doku
Grealish
Nunes

None show any leadership qualities at all. Fair enough not all players are born leaders but if you don’t have the required numbers of leaders on the pitch then you are in trouble.

Ederson should be doing more in this respect. Bernado (what the fuck has to happened to him I don’t know) Haaland, Foden. These players need to step up. Hopefully Dias coming back will help.

There is a feeling in this run that some of our players only have that desire to win at all costs when they are being dragged along by someone else. Grealish a prime example of someone who rides on the back of others. When the going gets tough is he going to roll his sleeves up and get stuck in? He needs to, as do some others.

Also been thinking maybe just maybe the standards we have set have been so extremely high, that were actually not in a crisis at all and that this is normal

I was thinking the very same thing. Last night’s collapse was classic comedy football from the days of typical City. It is like having a deeply frustrating relative who you thought you would never see again, suddenly reappear in your life. Metaphorically speaking, he needs to disappear again quickly.
