“City Matters” fan committee

How do the reps consult with people they are supposed to represent? The one who came on here certainly did not.

The simple answer is for most they can't. Kevin Parker can because he can canvass supporters club secs for example but how does PB find out what 40k plus SC holders think? It's badly flawed, as shown by the fact the disabled supporters group rep Mark resigned very early after CM was established.

The point is that we provide the reps with ideas to put on the table for discussion and hopefully give the club feedback that's more useful and immediate than a few email surveys - but as I said the club will always make the final decisions, there's nothing any of the reps can do to alter that.

Probably very little .The reps were up against it from day 1 The club set the agenda all the reps can do is put forward ideas .The problem is fans have so many differing opinions, so some fans are never going to be happy .some fans just wanted an argument with the rep on here. Just like years ago with the "Fan on the Board" seems good on paper but again the club set the agenda. Regarding ticket price increase many fans think there should be a ticket price freeze while many think we should stop moaning and pay up as it is the price of success, so which side does the rep listen to?

IIRC, City Matter was a sort of replacement for the earlier Points of Blue meetings. Points of Blue led to some small but helpful improvements for fans through consultation with the Club (based on what I’ve read on this Forum). Somewhere along the line, quite a few of us got our hopes up that City Matters would lead to more substantial changes for the better. Looking back, it was probably the wrong thing to get our hopes up.

I recognise it is too early to pass judgement on City Matters and good things may come in the future. That said, if our Club really wanted CM reps to make a good early impression with our fans they wouldn’t have raised the Season Card prices. This decision was taken out of City Matters but it was a lost opportunity for a show of goodwill.

Good post, what would be the motivation to be a rep if it is nothing but tokenism by the club, have any of the reps ideas been implemented

We probably wouldn't know until next season or until we extend and fans are moved again. Have you read through the minutes and looked at the clubs thoughts on the many issues brought up in the meetings ?

It would be nice to have a permanent link to this to save trawling through pages trying to find it. Thanks.
