“City Matters” fan committee

Let’s be honest.

City Matters has fallen by the wayside for the majority of City fans.

If you ask City fans when the last meeting was, what the topics
of conversation were, and when the last minutes from the last meeting were released by the club on the OS, the majority of City fans wouldn’t have a clue.

For all of it’s good early intentions, positive things have filtered through on occasions to the fans, it’s become nothing more than an in-house talking shop between the club and the City Matters Reps.

With the latest City Matters shenanigans devised and orchestrated by the club, City Matters has lost more credibility.(that’s not me having a go at the City Matters Reps)

City Matters should be open and transparent. It isn’t! It’s hidden behind secrecy, gossip and a culture of information that can’t be disclosed to City fans.
If it wasn't for this forum I'd imagine most don't know it exists. Probably only a small percentage of match going fans use this forum, so the majority do t know it exists ir how an item could be raised to the agenda. It feels to me that this should possibly be better managed and communicated via main supporter club and then filter to all branches

Spot on, if City Matters are our main access to those at the top of the club, then it should be orchestrated in to a pyramid style scheme where the information filters down and up, Maybe the ‘Chairs’ Mods and so on of the various organisations need to form a collective instead of lots of splintered groups with different agenda

City Matters does NOT in any way shape or form talk for me or my kids, fucking disgraceful. Why don’t they now put out a statement in our name saying Peter walton was a great ref? A complete fucking disgrace

They should be quitting en masse for being used this way. Does no-one have any principles any more?

Think of the free food and drinks. That's hard to walk away from.

On a serious note. That would be a good idea. It would certainly put the club in a difficult position, and give them time to think about what they did or didn’t do, more importantly.

I'm not really sure when the posters on here and City fans in general will start to understand that the senior management of the club couldn't give a flying fuck about the normal, match going 'legacy fans'? They never have done and it is clear they never will. City Matters and all the other similar stuff are just gimmicks to appease (and in my opinion to also patronise) the fans. For them it's about revenue. Money. Corporate hospitality - anything that can be monetised. They are no different to any other top club and why do we think they should be? The sooner this is accepted the easier for us it will be. I learnt the hard way. 45 year season ticket holder and booted out of CB L1 for the tunnel club with a brief email and a crappy 'take it or leave it' offer and a lot of other fans have also had the same. The way this has been handled tells us all everything we need to know how the management of how the club regard the fans. As I say, they couldn't give a fuck. Every game is a sell out these days. They can get more money for your seat ticket from some day tripper who buys a half and half scarf when he arrives at the Etihad and watches the game through their phone and then exits via the club shop to buy a load of over priced, expensive tat on their way out. It's what we have become.

Give it a couple of years and the only thing Manchester about City will be the name.

Obviously I know the CM reps quite well. Simon Walker is a fantastic person to have as chair/chairman/chairperson* (delete according to pedantry). He has great integrity, is calm, thoughtful and reasonable, plus has tremendous gravitas. Mark Todd is also a brilliant rep, who takes no shit and is quite vocal usually in meetings, calling out things he thinks are wrong. Both are people you'd want in your corner.

Simon was asked to attend a meeting but not to tell the rest of the CM group. I think he realises that not telling the committee, and getting their input first, was a mistake. When Sam Lee suggested this meeting initially, we decided as a group that we wouldn't get involved as the risk was it would just turn into a circus.

I don't know for sure but I'm guessing the Liverpool fan representative was Joe Blott, Spirit of Shankly chair. I've met Joe and a nicer guy you couldn't hope to meet. I could talk football and fan-related stuff with him all day. But genuine and fantastic people like Simon & Joe aren't the problem.

I've made my thoughts clear on Liverpool's ownership and their deliberate actions in stirring the pot relentlessly, directly and via the media. I also agree with my learned friend Mr Moustache that City have been pusillanimous in dealing with this over what's now nearly 10 years, and certainly once the pattern and intent became quite clear to them.
Sam Lee? Really? What the actual fuck?
