“City Matters” fan committee

Does anyone else think City Should sell season tickets earlier in in the year?

Every season City are cramming season ticket sales, semi-final cup ticket sales, Cup final ticket sales, away ticket sales, and CL ticket sales into a few of weeks, which is causing problems at the ticket office. The club should sell season tickets in late March or early April.

The minimum size for the Championship is only 5k. The FL/EFL got a lot more relaxed on clubs getting promoted after Stevenage were the last club to get robbed in the mid-90s.

The EFL tend to help clubs and waiver requirements in the short term, most are already big enough and just need to do some segregation, and perhaps additional toilets as you can't walk round in the ground. They provide grants you can claim to go towards improving the stadium, even if 10 years after promotion, but they require that you own the ground or a new 50 year lease to get the grant.

Bournemouth only have a few years left on their lease, and if they improved the ground they would just see the rents put up, and it will cost millions and still a small ground.

We only took the lower amount for Pompey in 2005 of 1,100 not many complained then (rare 3-1 win there for us in the Sat evening rain), but all would be Points or Supporters Clubs back then.

There could be twice as many people not even alive in 2005 who want to go to Brentford for the final game than we took to Portsmouth that year anyway.

Funny one though, we went on a minibus to that game. As you can imagine it took an age to get there and it was carnage on our minibus. As we approached the ground three of our lot were refused entry for being too pissed: one tried to jump through a gap at the top of the turnstile and smashed his head on a metal frame and knocked himself out and two others fucked it off and went to get tattoos instead.

I was at Portsmouth in 2005, this has the potential to be the new York away.

I’ve just realised we didn’t even play Portsmouth away in 2005.

In 2004-05 we played them away in November 2004 and in 2005-06 we played them away in March 2006.

It was 2006 I went to.

Talking of York away… I saw this picture recently, before Alfie had signed for us, before Erling was born, we had a Norway City flag at York away

Maybe that’s what swung it between Madrid or City last Summer, for Erling.

I think that would be too complicated.
Think the only way to blend them would be to have an either/or option.

- 5k points or been to every home fa cup game this season
-4k points or been to 2 fa cup games

Something like that.

I think some sort of priority to anyone who went to the semi final would be fair (and, no I didn't go so don't benefit directly)

Keep it simple, Cup scheme then points , People should at least some kind of purchase history to attend prestigious games .
Thanks all. Some interesting thoughts here. I’ll feed this back. Like I said, I don’t think we’ll get to this stage for the FA Cup at least, but good to be prepared.

Thanks Alex. Much appreciated.

Any news on the away ticket situation? Percentages. Players, staff, sponsors, corporates, away fans, etc?

Any discussions on why the supposedly agreed 60% of away tickets being made available via loyalty points isn't being adhered to for the bigger games like Brentford?
Firstly, this is where the previous lack of minutes really lets City Matters down, as we have had in depth discussions about this in the Ticketing sub-group.

Nonetheless, this is something I have picked up on this week. I'm trying to get a figure from the club about how many points have been on sale for Brentford to ticket points holders. Well aware of the 781 figure from here, but I always try to give the club an opportunity to answer first. From our calculations, that leaves around 150/200 tickets missing.

I raised it elsewhere this week, but there is a wider point about the transparency of our selling criteria. For me, the club should be publishing a breakdown of what each group of supporters has been allocated for each away fixture. It would make this a whole lot easier than the current anecdotal evidence and counting the ticket planner.

The breakdown is currently 60% ticket points holders, 20% supporters clubs, 15% corporate, and 5% players friends, family and club staff. Please correct me if I am wrong for any of those (sort of proves my points about nothing being published).

I think any changes to the percentage distribution is a longer term question than Brentford unfortunately, but is something that we can work on over the summer (or at least pressure the club). As I've said, I would rather more went to ticket points holders.

TBH, I think people would still moan if the club released the percentages for the big away games like United, Liverpool, and a one off like Brentford away, rather than Southampton away midweek.

But at least it would make the away ticket allocation more transparent for each away match, which would appease a lot of people and stop the guessing and frustration experienced by many people hoping to get a ticket for an away game.

Going forward. Once the NS is expanded and two further hospitality sections are added to the the Etihad, away tickets will be even harder to come by for the big away games.

Why can’t supporters clubs and corporate be part of the points allocation. Why do they need a separate pot?

I got over 15k points and been a season card holder all my life, apart from the season I deferred after Covid as I was stuck in Turkey. What do you think?

I think the system and the way we’ve done it over the years is great.
All ST holders had the option of joining the cup scheme and all are aware of the benefits it brings ,

I think you should be in line for a ticket when it drops to your criteria using the same system as they have done every season .

I don’t think they should be prioritising fans who have attended 3/4 cup games over fans who have been going years and built up loyalty points . You obviously fit into both these categories but choose not to take the option of committing to it.

I think this is where the cup scheme and loyalty points really work.
Imagine if you only did 2 of them games and someone had been to all 3 but only had 2 years ST and 2k Loyal points ,
Or someone who’s been to the home games and Bristol with only 4k points! Do you think they should get a ticket over you ?
