Might be right about where it originated. I seem to recall later that season that it was mentioned on here that it had been sung at Monaco. I’ve been trying to plug the fucking thing ever since (as I know you have) - without the awooooooo bit! - as it really is a banger and I was delighted that it finally finally took off in a big way when we were kept in after the derby last month. I think the de de de de derrrr derrrr bit is what truly helps keep it going.Nobody seems to know. It never used to be ‘awoooo’ when it first came about.
I’ve got it in my head that it was Bucharest away when people came back singing that chant and it never caught on until now. It’s easily that old a chant though, might even be the season before that, can’t quite remember. But there was no high pitched bit originally.
It’s those daft nuances to songs that make them so popular, like singing ‘world’ for so long for Colin the King. It’s a laughMight be right about where it originated. I think we’re both fighting a losing battle with the wolf howl bit though!
And definitely not sung in the first minute after kick off at a lunchtime game against Newcastle. It reminds me of the Balotelli chant, in that it's got that continuous repetitive beat, best sung when you're pissed and at an away game
Rubbish this chant imo
Spend some money on drugs, you’ll soon come to enjoy it!It’s the worst city chant I’ve heard in years, absolutely shite
Yeah, have to agree on that. And definitely not sung in the first minute after kick off at a lunchtime game against Newcastle.
It’s a great pub/away song but will die a death in the Etihad.
HeheheOh boo hoo
I was at Monaco pal and that's when me and a couple of mates heard it coming out the ground from some bloke. Was chuffed after the rags away game it finally kicked off.Might be right about where it originated. I seem to recall later that season that it was mentioned on here that it had been sung at Monaco.
