1 | James Trafford - 2025/26

What do you think of Trafford's performance v. Palermo?

For the record, this is the first time I've watched Trafford in a long while... but for me, he inspires no confidence whatsoever. For me, Ederson is a far better keeper in the traditional sense (commanding the box, decision making, leading the defense) and a far better 11th player (ability on the ball).

That said, Ederson makes way too many metal mistakes - including against Palermo - Ederson gives away goals more often than he creates goals for our side.
Your judgement ???? :)

I'm still unsure why we signed him. Unless Ortega leaves, he's not going to be playing at all. I know he's one for the future, but surely his playing and getting experience is more important right now?
We signed TWO keepers, one a definite 3rd choice, one a 1st/2nd choice. It seems pretty clear that either Ederson or Ortega is going. Today, I’d say it’s probably Ortega, with Ederson leaving next summer on a free and a big pay day.

That also means we will be looking for another new keeper for next season!

So, basically we prefer Eddie and Trafford, correct? So, third choice.
Keep up, mate! We bought a new 3rd choice to replace Carson…

If Ederson leaves last minute, then Ortega will be FORCED to stay. Otherwise, he will leave for Germany late in the window.

Maybe because he's out of contract in 10 months or so and wants to get a chance to start somewhere? Where the eff do you get the idea that he's awful?
If he was that good, we wouldn’t have brought Trafford back. He’s never a number one in top flight football.

Ortega absolutely loves it at City. It's not him that's chosen to leave
I don’t know him, so I can’t tell you how he feels about the club on a personal level, but I do believe he wants to be a #1, playing every week and trying to go to the World Cup. That’s not happening for him at City, regardless of any personal feelings.

I've watched the Inside City videos and can see that he loves it here

Listen to what James Trafford says.
He is exceptionally young for a keeper and takes things day by day, looking to improve, learning from Ederson. He has a wonderful attitude and great talent. Succession planning is as clear as day in this case.
