Really hard working, determined performance that yet again resulted in him producing fuck all.

But he didn’t give up and didn’t hide which was good to see.
This is the problem. He can bust his guts like he did today but there is little end product and for me it’s because he takes a split second too long on the ball before releasing it.

Doesn’t create anything like enough for a wide forward. However, he is probably working as hard as any other player out there. With our number 8s producing very little, I would stick him in the middle of the park. He can’t look any worse than Bernie or Gundo in that role at the moment.
im starting to think the solution is to just make him and phil midfielders and go after 2 fast wingers in the summer who can score goals. His output is still too low despite playing better. We need energy in the midfield him and foden can give us that.

One of the most influential ATM with less objective stats (goals/assists), the rest of the team isn't helping either though.

No magic, just work rate. would take a lazier bastard who could win us a match from time to time.

A big improvement of late but we still need more. Next step is beating his man and making it count in terms of goals and assists. Granted, it only becomes an assist if those around him become more clinical.

I posted this in the post match thread, but as this thread is about him...

Yeah he's played better of late but he didn't really take his man on and didn't create anything that led to any chances today.

I'm pissed off by our performance today but at the moment, I'm still undecided on him. I don't think he makes us better and if we got the chance to upgrade the left wing in the summer, i'd do it.

Looked more interested than most and saw plenty of the ball but what did it result in? You simply cannot say anybody that's pocketed by Emerson fucking Royal has had a good game.

Neutrals aren't watching that and coming away thinking Grealish played well, they're thinking how has Emerson royal been made to look more than competent.
I agree with this.

Grealish' commitment and work rate impressed me today and has over the past month, but we need wingers that give full backs nightmares. Grealish doesn't have the pace to get past his full back and his end product in the final third isn't great as his numbers will suggest.

If we had Mitoma or Kvaratskelia on the wing they would be committing defenders and looking to get past their full back. They would be far less predictable than Grealish.

The worry for me with Grealish is, we have spent 100m on a player that has now become hard working off the ball and keeps the ball well. We haven't spent 100m on a player that can be a match winner for us. That can change a game on its head and create something out of nothing.

Our standards MUST improve in the summer.

We've got problems but he's not one of them.

The work rate should be a minimum requirement but post world cup he's one of very few players delivering it. Let's get everyone putting in the same sort of shift and then we'll judge ability.

I get the criticisms of his end product, although we've seen improvements lately, but it's hard to judge when so few of the players around him are busting a gut to get into good positions. He could sometimes make better decisions but a lack of options isn't just on him.

I'd love to see him in midfield but it's just not happening any time soon given our only other genuine option on the left is Foden, who most people seem to agree also needs to play centrally.
