One of the things that many people like most about Grealish off the pitch is his unfiltered honesty. It'll be one of the things that makes him popular in the dressing room, as well as with fans.
I'm not particularly a fan of our players making derogatory comments about others. But - I don't think what he said was actually that insulting to Almiron, he was very drunk, he was talking to a teammate who chose to share it with the world, and part of the price you pay for a player who doesn't spout media-trained platitudes is that sometimes he'll say something that pisses someone off. In the grand scheme of things, a gentle mockery of a teammate that just happens to reference another player is very low down on the list of potentially problematic things a drunk person with no filter might say.
His comment also comes in the context of the fact he's constantly targeted on the pitch by opposition players (see the cause of his injury that meant he was missing today) and off the pitch by so-called football fans (type his name into Twitter for a taste of the shit that gets flung his way even when he hasn't played). And while that's not an excuse for anything he chooses to do or say, it'd be nice to see people - especially fans of the team he plays for - get a bit more worked up about the endless fouling and social media/verbal abuse he's on the receiving end of, rather than one misjudged comment.
Giving Jack any credit for the way Almiron and Newcastle performed today is an insult to everyone involved.
