You're joking right? You're comparing a one dimensional, SLOPPY, one footed, turnover machine like Sterling to someone with sublime skills on the ball, midfielder skills, and a ball retention magnet by goals and assists? There's no double standard. If Sterling is not scoring goals he's useless. When he was on it here he had value. Then he started missing more sitters than he was worth and he had to go. Why are you even bringing him up in this conversation? I guess we all have favorites and some will be defended regardless of the circumstances. I wouldn't trade Jack at this moment for 10 Sterlings...just sayin'...
No need to rubbish raz mate, he was our top scorer after sergio so he did something right, right place right time

You're right, no need. I let the apples to oranges comparison of the two get to me. We all get frustrated at times and voice our displeasure about a player or even Pep. I consider him the greatest manager of all time and so my expectations of him become somewhat too much at times. When a player is struggling for form its obvious and it's also expected that some will weigh in. I do it, most of us do. But when one of our guys gets slagged indiscriminately it gets me wound up. Listening to "fans" of the club continuously ragging on someone regardless of the circumstances and/or how they are actually performing just gets under my skin, what can I say...

Oh yeah there's loads of takeons and dribbles and passes. But his end product isn't good enough. He doesn't produce anything meaningful at the end of those dribbles and takeons. So what's the point?

I give you Adama Traore. Incredibly impressive dribble numbers. Doesn't matter if the end product is bad.

That’s a piss poor comparison. Perhaps you’d like Jack better if he lubed up?

I love Jack and have defended him to the hilt these last 18 months but Sterling is in a different league to him. The comparison is pointless. Sterling won a ridiculous amount with us, scored over 100 goals, made over 300 appearances. Jack will need to be here until he's 35 to be in the same realm as Raheem.

Remains to be seen. Jack may be here for a handful of Prems and 2 or 3 CLs. We'll have to wait and see on that one.

Offers something different.

Phil is more direct/dynamic and creates panic.

Defenders seem a bit more confident, back themselves against Grealish and get attracted every time. They never learn and Jack seems to invariably attract two of them before exploiting the space they vacate. By the time they realise he’s better than they thought and very difficult to dispossess, they finish up on their arses or foul him. His constant goading of them also seems to help. He’s definitely not conventional. Love it…

I wonder what happened at the World Cup to send him back to us with such confidence and determination.

It's not like England had a particularly great tournament, or like Southgate played him much or showed much faith in him - but maybe he's got his heart set on proving himself indispensable for the next international tournament.

Or maybe he's just someone who really loves warm weather training.
Home Alone tour in New York at Christmas.

Finally looking like he's confident enough to not worry if things don't come off. Playing with the desire to win games and that's taking over from the "don't lose the ball" mindset. He put huge pressure on himself to get goals and assists and you could see the apologetic reaction when things didn't happen. He seems to have buried that now and just plays his natural game and it's working. The ball into Gundogan was possibly a bit too high, but a great chance. His dynamism led to Bernardo's goal and he did a similar run which led to Foden's chance to make it 3. All while working hard off the ball and being disciplined.

You don't twist when things are going well, but I'd still love to see him play centrally instead of De Bruyne. He'd do all the things De Bruyne is doing but with greater success based on comparative form at the moment.

I agree with this. He has that mixture of what Bernardo brings in being able to keep the ball under pressure and the running of KDB with the ball. The only thing he is really missing is that through-ball, but when he comes inside he looks really good.

He can play the through ball no problem. It's easier from a central position facing forwards than when he's out wide with two players around him. He's starting to show a relationship with the other players now which is helping him tick. At Villa he was the star man but he had people running off him and linking up with him to make things happen, the City players seem to know how he wants to play and he's therefore becoming more effective.

It's quite simple with Jack, he wants you to move into space and he wants the ball to feet. Do that and he'll do the rest.

Many different reasons but the main one IMO is Cancelo away from starting line.

As many said before it is never a good idea to have two right footed players on the left channel.
