It would have won 2 of this years groups, it would have qualified in 6/8 groups, its more than "they" got (also in a group where a team got 0). We've done OK in the hardest group, its disappointing, but we've had worse weeks in our history :)

Best of all the media have a far better story than us not progressing this year.

Top a bottom of it was we didn't qualify when in my opinion we should have done because whilst Napoli are decent, with the players we have we should be finishing above them.

The 4 points from 12 against them and BM Is the telling statistic.

Villarreal were wank and that is why everyone else did so well.

Playing Toure in Munich and kolorov and Zabaleta in Naples was a mistake.

Whilst we at doing great against domestic teams, we didn't really perform in Europe in my opinion and Napoli deserved to go through.

We are the 5th team to go out in the cups history with our points tally.

Its a meaningless stat. 6 points against a team that ended pointless and 3 against a weakened team.

Finishing 3rd with 10 points is no better than finishing 3rd in a group where all four teams end up with 7-9 points.

Thhe Europa League will not be the great distraction because, although Mancini is talking of winning the competition, we can play a whole range of players from the squad and down into the EDS, given soft opposition.

Since the scoring went to 3 points for a win and 1 point for a draw in 95/96:

PSV Eindhoven 10pts. (03/04 - Group C)
Olympiacos 10pts. (04/05 - Group A)
Dynamo Kyiv 10pts. (04/05 - Group B)
Werder Bremen 10pts. (06/07 Group A)
Manchester City 10pts. (11/12 Group A)

So, a total of 5 clubs out of 496 total possible teams and 124 possible groups. That's around 1% of all the teams and 4% of all the groups.

Needless to say, it's fairly uncommon.
