10 | Rayan Cherki - 2025/26

Lost the ball for their goal, then took what felt like 3 long range shots and went for a glory pass all leading to us losing the ball in the last 5 minutes.

That's just the player he is though, some games this style will get us that extra goal which secures the win, and others he may cost us a point. I suspect Pep won't be as amicable in his feedback to his risky style at 2-1 in a semi final though.

I like that attitude of searching for the killing goal, but it is stressful to watch at times.
It's stick or twist with Cherki.
He's either all in or fucked.
Got away with it today but he'll produce more than get beat.

Was texting with a friend who asked me when Cherki the Magician was going to show up! Had to tell him that he was a bit of a lottery ticket…often don’t win the prize, but when you do, Boy, is it worth it…then he went and lost the ball in midfield and we gave away the goal!

My brother who was at the game said Cherki was a bit of a luxury as it got to the business end of the game because he was playing like it was a training game and Pep had put him on the Reserve team!

He played at least one goal worthy pass across face of goal that nobody got on the end of and created most of our first half danger. That pass at the end to Haaland was just overhit, it was absolutely on and I have no problem with him playing it. I think he's being criticized here mostly because of results not the process

Can't lose the ball in those areas like he did for their goal. Lose the ball in the final third, fine, but you take care of the ball in those areas. That is why Pep doesn't want him dropping deep. Put one good ball across the goal mouth otherwise not much else.

If only Haaland had buried those 2 chances Cherki put on a plate for him in the first half...

Not good today; it was his turnover in midfield that led to the goal.
Luckily for him, Doku and Nico G leveled the score.

He looked tired, especially in the last half hour, but that was somewhat expected. I think it's the first time in his career he's played three consecutive 90-minute matches under this much pressure in seven days. Along with Nunes, they're the only two who haven't had any rest.

Despite this, he created one or two moments of magic, notably that run and the pass that Marmoush narrowly missed. Pep was furious with Marmoush for not cutting in at the far post sooner.

He's played the last two games like they were beneath him, somehow. In the big games against top opposition he locks in and really turns up, but in these last two games - Burnley and Southampton - he's spent periods strolling about like we've already won. He's got amazing talent. He's a fantastic footballer. But he doesn't seem to approach every game with the same attitude. There's potential for him to be as good as De Bruyne but he won't get anywhere near if he doesn't adopt Kevin's attitude, where every game was as important as the last. That's what he's got to work on next.

Marmoush?

I was watching him when they scored. He shit himself and ran back shouting to get the ball back up to take the centre asap - I think he knew Pep would bollock him haha

Maybe that’s why we got him at such a low price? Attitude problems?

I agree

I don't know about "beneath him" although I guess that works too.

But i think he felt they were going to be a lot easier than they were and he will play with them because of his talent.

You hear sports people say it all the time, when you underestimate your opponent and it's not as easy as you think, you can't just suddenly switch it on.

You need to go into every game with the same mentality.

Of course, we don't truly know what he was thinking, maybe we are off the mark but it looked like that to me. But if he's a smart player, then these experiences will only make him realise that these teams at the bottom of the league or in the second tier are absolutely no mugs

22yrs old, 8mths with us, his impact and potential remain off the scale. More highlights than Arsenal and Rags combined but still learning. For me he has lit up our season like no other since Sergio.
