10 | Rayan Cherki - 2025/26

And there were idiots on here doubting it when I said he is just a freestyle footballer! Shocking final pass and shot. If he is the solution, I'm not sure what the problem is!
Well, clearly that’s just utter bollocks has he’ll be up there with the best for assists per minute and chip in with plenty of goals

I don’t think him doing a trick is showboating. That’s just how he plays and the sooner fans realise that, the better.

It’s just what he does and how he sees the game, it’s a positive and not to be coached out of him IMO. You’ll get games like today where it doesn’t work but for the majority it’ll benefit the side.

Needs to work harder defensively, though.

I think the jammed schedule has caught up with him a little. Fatigue accounts for those misplaced passes he typically makes in his sleep.

Not sure what he was thinking at the end there though.

Awful again and shocked how he wasnt subbed off even with a lack of options on the bench. He should have been first off, not reijnders.

His defensive contribution was piss poor, constantly let his man go and left Nunes with overloads to deal with on his own, the times he got back behind the ball, he put zero pressure on the player with the ball, he quite literally just stood infront of the ball and let them do whatever they wanted. That is unacceptable from anybody.

Attacking he was shit too, his insistence of playing at walking pace all the time hindered more attacks than he contributed to. First half just after we scored there was some nice little interplay with him and Haaland that saw us break, he had 2 men over, a simple pass and they're in on goal and instead he continues to dribble with it in a trot before losing it. That was his game in a nutshell today. He's allowed an off day as much as anybody going forward but when that day comes, you best make sure you're doing the basics at the very least and he wasn't.

Love him but just wasn’t his day today.

On a side note does anyone else get a bit pissed off how slow he walks over to take corners? Even at 0-0 just absolutely zero urgency and then throws his hands in the air to the fans in the corner to make some noise when he’s moving like a sloth. Dunno if I’m being dramatic but it grated me a bit

He was poor today overall, but did keep plugging away

Need to remember hes still only 22 and is in a new league

Hes shown enough already to know that he'll continue to improve and learn along the way

The least of the issues at the moment, and tbh id move him centrally and have him takeover whatever it is that Fodens being asked to do; Doku one side and Semenyo on the other.

You can't use age as an excuse, so I've been told.
Seriously, we have a few young and raw players, Nico G, Savinho, O Reilly and Cherki as examples who need experience. Any off day at this level shows them up.

You can expect inexperience and inconsistentcy at a young age, assuming the quality is there inconsistently, and the attitude levels are good.

Both Nicos and Cherki tick those boxes for me, and Savinho ticks neither.

Yes, some players are tired. The squad is quite small right now.

Things are like to change in several weeks.

I’m excited about this lad but that stupid little flick that lead to their goal was criminal.

Just drill the ball up the line and keep it in the corner!

Too often at 0-0 or a goal up, he thinks he’s at a Skill Skool exhibition and is doing daft Irish dancing jigs with the ball.

Do that at 3-0 up, not 1-0 up where everyone is fucking things up every two minutes in attack as it is.

I think we are seriously missing a trick playing him out wide. He's said so himself that pace isn't his best asset and he needs to be played more inside. After the Forest game he said he ignored Pep telling him to stay out wide and came more closer to get the winning goal. He needs to be behind Haaalnd threading balls through instead of trying outpace a fast defender and running up and down the flanks. Hopefully if Semenyo comes in then this happen.
