10 | Rayan Cherki - 2025/26

I suspect he is a trouble maker. We could have beat Bournemouth but he ran right into Rodri. And that moment summed him up for me.

For a few weeks rather than months. He was on the bench in 3 consecutive games in March: Newcastle away, Real away and W Ham away. Then he was a starter for 5-6 games, but slightly lost the plot after Arsenal due to being too focused on entertaining rather than fighting for the team.

Part of the lessons Pep is giving him.
Strange that everytine he’s on the bench we mostly don’t win games . Our biggest game of the season and he should have started .

You forget the run of games where he clearly didn’t take the opposition seriously. He was benched for a few weeks and came back playing very differently.

Simply how he conducts himself on and off the pitch, and reports of his attitude and behavior at Lyon.
You defo have a dislike for him. Strange, he’s easily the most skilful player in our team. I’m not sure anyone could argue he’s not exciting to watch. I’ve not read anything about his attitude problems and most of the negative opinion is based on his maverick style of play. What were his issues at Lyon?

Disrespectful to teammates which caused unrest in the dressing room

He joined Lyon when he was 15 and left when he was 21. The only negative thing I can find about him and his team mates was when he attempted a panenka in a pre-season friendly loss to the arse. He was 19. Other than that your label of him being a trouble maker seems made up which is odd.

Football Transfers article from 2023 described him as causing a fracture in the dressing room, mocking his teammates, and being allowed to leave for the good of the team.

Just one example.

I understand he’s exciting. But there have been games where’s had no impact. Games where he’s been selfish with the ball. I hope he comes good, but he lacks maturity, seems childish. The stick Savinho gets here could easily apply to Cherki as well.

In another interview a goalkeeper he played with explained that he learned to not expect a cutback or final pass because Cherki would just keep dribbling or attempt a chip shot and that his attacks came to nothing.

I hope he comes good, but his head isn’t there imo.

So what? That was a different team, he was a young lad.

He’s a wonderful, skilful and creative player, a brilliant talent that I want to see playing for us for years.
