He was getting man marked by Reed which made it difficult for him to find any rhythm but a solid outing given his long absence.
 
He clearly just needs a few games in a row to get up to speed.

With the energy and pressing from likes of Jesus and Foden either side of him it can work.

I thought he looked ponderous and well off it tonight. Real shame. I know he’s had the injuries and illness and that may take him some time, but given his age and quite serious recent injury I think he’s done.

All about opinions I guess and part of me would love to be proved wrong. He’s been a legend. But tonight I thought he and Torres stood out for the wrong reasons out of our midfield/attackers.

Couldn’t ask for a more loyal, talented, hero. I hope we win the European cup for him before he leaves. Seeing Sergio and Fern lift that trophy together would be fitting for two great players. I do think though it’s time for him to move on and his replacement to take his place this summer. He’s still got a few years left in him, but I don’t think that should be with us.
 
Great to see him looking well again.He played better than i was expecting,and the goal further inspired him.
