10 years ago today City 1 Liverpool 4

I was so glad to see the back of Pellegrini. Great first season with Mancini's team with Yaya and Dave carrying us to a league title. Nice guy but the bloke didn't have a clue.
Remember a spell on here when posts calling him a corpse were being brought down left right and centre.

One post called him a ‘stoned **** corpse’ which did make chuckle. Lasted about three minutes before it was removed.

Can’t for the life of me remember this game, can i ask where did we finish in the league that season and were did the red scousers finish..
We finished 4th, knocked rags into 5th on GD if I recall this was one of the games that didnt take place on the day at OT due to training device being left in stadium. As we played at specified time and had qualified for CL, I believe many fans didnt bother with the rearranged game. Not sure where Liverpool finished (but we beat them on pens in LC Final) but Leicester were champs and Ihenacho had looked promising for us.

It is funny but I wouldn't be abusive myself. The guy was brought in to do a job and was pretty successful, if you don't look at the situation too closely. The tail off was horrendous. Even before he was told he was being replaced.

Utter bollocks. He got us playing some of the best stuff we’ve ever seen. 156 goals, smashed everyone. League and cup double. The 3-0 at OT was one of the finest performances a City team has ever played. If that’s how we play when the manager is clueless, imagine how good we could have been.

No, I agree about the abuse; sometimes we all laugh at things we shouldn’t!

Yes, we fell off a cliff. Made some really bad buys, especially in defence. Plus Yaya went into steep decline that season. I wonder what Kev thought about his first season at City. I’d say he was the one spark of hope in terms of players we brought in that season.

I take it that it wasn’t you that called him a stoned **** corpse?

Wasn't all that in his first season?

I’d forgotten how shit Liverpool’s team was for that game. How the fuck we were so poor and lost so heavily to that side shows how alarming our displays were under Pellegrini beyond his first season.

Our team there is miles better than theirs.
That was under Klopp already i think? His gegenpressing worked really well against us in that game, had no plan for it.

Yep. Doesn’t detract one iota from what he achieved.
Great first season. He is the only non British/European manager to ever win the league. Which is an achievement in itself. It was the next two seasons that formed my opinion of him, and was glad when he left.
