100 Greatest TV Shows Ever

Series 5 of the wire is excused as it was effected by the writers strike at the time, thus it being shorter, it certainly felt a very rushed ending, it is easily the worst of the 5 series but the other 4 are near perfection for me, so many excellent characters, well acted and brilliantly written.

As I said its all subjective, what would your top 3 be as a matter of interest?

I've never really thought about it in too much detail. Like you say it's subjective, and I can remember shows from my childhood having a far greater impact on me than shows today. Does that mean they are better? What is better? Acting, production values, the story?

Roots was a game changer. Never before or since can I remember a show that was so talked about. I begged my mum and dad to let me stay up and watch it.
Star Trek. In particular Voyager. The acting and the story-lines might come under scrutiny, but for pure enjoyment, it's hard to beat.
Game of Thrones - It's just a no brainer for No1 spot. The story, the characters, the production values. It has everything, and so far is the greatest series of all time.

I think you have to consider everything when considering which is your favourite, like acting, story and production, if it was based on things I really wanted to watch when I was younger then the A-team, Knight rider and Airwolf would be my top three ;-)

Never watched the original Roots, but the remake is on my to watch list considering the cast. I always considered Voyager to be the weakest of the 3 next generation series, i didnt like Janeway and chakotay, it was certainly poor until feeders of nine made an appearance with her figure hugging outfits, with deep space 9 being my fav, certainly when the war started. Game of Thrones is in my top 10, its up there but there are too many episodes that are weak for it to be considered the best of the best for me.

Voyager was the best of the all of them and Janeway was the best captain. Chakotay was a bit of a prick but not as annoying as Neelix. Seven of Nine was perfect.

It's the overall quality that counts. I can forgive GOT for the occasional filler, and they have been occasional, because the overall series is just epic.
