11 | Jeremy Doku - 2025/26

Massive frustration of mine currently. Still haven't forgiven him for his 'attempt' last minute of the cup final with his left foot 25 years out. Agree with the comments re his work rate. Has lots of talent and can beat a man but very rarely finds a blue shirt, biggest issue for me though is he has no chemistry at all with Haaland which for his role in the team makes him somewhat ineffective.
That’s probably to do with Erling still inexplicably always going to the back post. Not sure how the penny hasn’t yet dropped that at full pelt on a very average left foot Doku is always going to just fire it low and hard towards the near post

Yes. The wingers have been given a very tough job in recent times because we have allowed teams to get set with 10 players deep marking every attacking outlet. Doku's final delivery has been a victim of this, and I expect it to change this season with a faster attacking approach.

I don’t buy the ‘doubled up’ argument. That’s the job he applied for - if he doesn’t want to be ‘doubled up’ go and play for West Ham or someone like that

Jeremy 'no product' Doku had more goal involvements per 90 in all club competitions last season than Cole Palmer, especially without penalties.

139 minutes per a non-penalty goal-involvement for Doku vs 151 for Palmer.

Doku's "friends" are welcome to comment.

As a side note, Doku's stats per 90 are better than those of Rodrygo, too.
I love cold hard facts; they can't be argued

He is miles away from the quality for a starting Manchester City player. He can make a difference from the bench but he shouldn't be starting any league games unless forced to due to injuries.

Comparing him to Cole Palmer is laughable.

I hope he won’t be in the starting eleven tomorrow. He is simply not a good enough player. When Reijnders scored, they started sprinting at the same time, but Reijnders left him miles behind.

His speed is over the first yard, like Stanley Matthews. Kept him playing in the top flight for 40 years - helped by Biostrath.

That is why we need another winger if savio goes to tottenham

Is that all competitions so includes the 4 goal involvements in 74 minutes against Salford City?

I reckon that if Haaland runs to the near post the first time Doku jinks past his man he’ll often reach Doku before he passes it. But it will create some space I guess

Think you’re getting him mixed up with Peter Beagrie. When he goes at pace on the outside he usually always crosses it straightaway from the byline. He’s not constantly chopping back and forth after running the fullback

All club compets, as pointed out in the first sentence. Fair point about Salford.

Compare them only in the PL, 24/25, minutes per goal/assist (without penalties):

Palmer - 167
Doku - 168

I hope Doku can do better this season. For the chances he creates per 90, top 5 in the league (?), he doesn't get enough assists. With Reijnders, Foden, Cherki, Bobb, Marmoush...attacking the box Doku can improve on his numbers.

Agreed. His assists are one thing, he also has to learn when to make that Sterling run when the winger on the other side has the ball. Far too often he stops at the corner of the box.
