I think the reason no one excelled in the past 18 months is because they aren’t good enough and Doku is one of them, who isn’t good enough

Hopefully the signings on Khusanov, Marmoush, Riejnders, Ait-Nori and Donnarumma are good enough and will excel

I don’t think it’s tactics with Doku, I think it’s ability and he lacks it for this level. Maybe he’s more suited to West Ham or Galatasaray where the requirements aren’t high every week and the odd flash is good enough

I personally think it’s our playstyle . All current transfers are flopping or about to flop. Wirtz literally didn’t join us because of our playstyle. Doku plays far better for Belgium and savinho also for Brazil whenever he played.
Players leave us and gain more momentum. Sorry but there’s no way out playstyle doesn’t restrict players.

Reijnders was put as a 6 despite being an offensive 8. air nouri is being used as an inside fullback despite being a wingback all his life. It starts somewhere and the clues are there. I still think if savinho moved to spurs and Doku moved to let’s say Chelsea - they would have better numbers. You can even say despite scoring the same amount of goals also Haaland didn’t evolve. He doesn’t run as much as he did for Dortmund - he doesn’t run with the ball towards ball anymore - also he doesn’t run behind the opponents backline because he knows the ball isn’t coming. Marmoush has started stopping his runs he did when he joined.

It is our playstyle + Rodri joined before Haaland did.
 
Albeit not easy being a winger in our side with a centre forward that is at best “sedentary”.

He actually isn't as bad a finisher as people think, he is pretty solid, but he never gets good chances to score.

Agreed. He’s actually quite a clinical finisher. Just doesn’t get the chance under Pep because he’s told to get chalk on his boots and beat 4 men that dawn on him whenever he gets it.

Yeah - change the system for this one trick pony.
My heart sinks when this unreliable, limited player plays cannon fodder. It's like a reset button for Father Dougal on here. We should play the dribbling winger in the box and he's not as effective because our striker is "sedentary" .... classics.

Hopefully those goals will give him a bit of a confidence boost ahead ofs ome important games for us.
