Been great mostly. Not great in one-on-ones, but tbf, Rashford is a tough player to come up against.

I still think we need a natural left back (that's not Mendy), but Zinny will do well for now.

As people have posted, he is an honest trier. Also agree that his fast crisp passing is his greatest attribute. He isn’t a defender though and is given a lot of help by others. If a team targets him he will be a weak spot. We do need a specialist left back. It won’t happen until the summer though and I hope he is good enough to have us challenging for everything.

Another good game. There’s something so likeable about him too. In an era where players want the spotlight and demand to play, he’s stayed here because he loves it and is getting his rewards.
I think that applies in the dressing room too, players like that help to knit the squad together and foster a good team spirit.

I’m not his biggest fan by any means but credit where it’s due, he has been excellent these last couple of games. Exposed a couple of times early on last night when Rashford ran at him but slowly wore him down and had a very good seconf half in particular.
With Doyle and Palmer out with covid, I wouldn’t mind seeing him get a run out in his preferred midfield position against Birmingham to see what he can do

You dont think united and chelsea tried to target him?

They obviously tried, and both teams have fast wingers, but the combination of the offside trap, Zinchenko more confident in cutting out space for wingers, and very importantly, Dias on his side means it's not that much of an issue.

On the plus, if we then get his passing as a benefit, which virtually no real left back can offer, then he is very well suited to this side.

I think he was targeted and he coped just. As we both said, he has had a great deal of help from Dias. We are likely to meet teams this season that will target him more effectively and god forbid Dias gets an injury.
anyway, we will see because he isn’t going to be replaced this window. With Walker back, we may well revert to Cancelo on the left although I am not convinced that is a safer option defensively. What we do know is that Zinchenko will give it 100% and no one can fault him for effort and determination.

Humble pie time. Loved him in the Centurion/treble seasons, thought it was time to go last summer. Fuck that. I’d happily drag my ball sack over broken glass if it meant Zin would start every game at left back over Mendy.
Same here. I've previously said he's not good enough to be a squad player but after seeing him against Chelsea and United I've changed my mind. He made a few minor mistakes against the rags with couple or three stray passes but what I noticed is how much more focused he is than Mendy. Not saying Zinc is an ideal LB, but on his current form I think he's the best option we have right now.

Title winning sides have players like this. They’re invaluable.

He’ll probably never be our automatic starting left back long term, but I love his attitude and I think it shows a lot about his personality that he just grinds on with things with ultimate determination no matter how long he’s been out of the team.

He spent too much of the game in the floor slide tackling the other night, although, thankfully, pretty much all of them came off. Played really well last two games, so much so I’d rest him against Birmingham and start him next week.
