110 mill down the drain

I"d have Bellers back in a heart beat how you can say he was a waste of money I'll never know. Well worth the money. If you want rubbish signings look no further than our RB after Richards went off.

jo 18 mill (rumours of only 4 mill up front)

Bellars14 mill

milner 18 mill ireland making it 26??
Ade 25

We could with the right recruitment policy have bought far technically superior players for 75 mill. Fcuking frightening.

Yeah I remember objecting to every single one of those transfers before they went through with the exception of Adebayor who I was indifferent to. I was especially depressed at the amount we paid for Milner and Lescott.

Oh and you forgot Wayne Bridge! lol

Bellamy waste of money, don't think so, he was great for us.

Ade waste of money, don't think so, get him playing as he can and would be a great asset to the Club.

The £19m for Jo was a newspaper figure. Bet we have paid nowt like that. The others - Bellamy wasn't exactly a waste of money. Lescott had no say in the price, neither did Milner. And for the technically gifted but 'lesser' quality players(?) just who would have come and joined in the circus that was MHMCFC?

How you can possibly call Bellamy a waste of Money is beyond me, he was worth £14m for one season alone.

Milner is still very much part of our plans and will only improve.

Ade scored some very important goals for us last season and if we'd only paid £12m most people wouldn't be complaining. So should we make anything more than £12m on him in the summer we'll have done ok on that one.

Lescott hasn't been worth £22m but we'll probably get over £10m when we sell him on so it's a waste of £12m or so.

Jo and RSC you can have.

Jo, RSC

Just wish I could BELIEVE that Milner will improve- I just don´t see it - time will tell

Will never fit into our side because he cant pass. That is not something you can learn at his age! Looked good in a Villa team that played very direct, he probably has 10 times as many touches per game in a City shirt than in a Villa one. Unfortunately this gives him 10 times more opportunity to mess up!

I'll resist the urge to be all aggressive on this one, and try to be helpful instead, see where it gets me.

None of those players are a waste of money, there's a reason why everybody is going out on loan. As far as the FFP regulations are concerned, players who signed before June 2010 such as all of those who you have listed (Milner aside) are not listed in the wage considerations of the profit/loss/

The first Monitoring Period starts next year. Due to this, we can sell all of the above for £5m - 20m, which will give us a MAJOR boost to our income in the first year of the monitoring period, whilst we wait for the revenues for the Champions League to start filtering in. Basically, we could be plus £50m in the first year of the MP, and -£50m in the second year of the MP, meaning that we would meet the regulations and not be open to sanctions. This is why we refuse to sell players and just loan them out, this summer (after 1st June) we will see a marked change in this policy.

Obviously, I don't mean to say that that was the plan all along, but it is a nice byproduct of Hughes' overspend. In addition to this, all of the players there really improved our options on the pitch, so it's worth it for them. You can only attribute value as a percentage of your total transfer budget. We bought Milner for maybe 10% of ours. For most clubs, that's £2m for Milner.

Lastly, Milner and Jo are both young lads, and Milner especially has always failed in his first year at a new club. We can start this conversation again next season and see how he has progressed then.

Have to agree with damocles a bit-

The reason the players seem a waste is because we overpayed against their real value, and also made some bad buys.

Paying to much was just due to the new owners and the fact we wanted new players quickly - when we signed the likes of Lescott (who isn't anywhere near as bad as some make out) we did not have the reputation / league position to get much better players.

Lescott / Bridge / Barry etc all helped to move us up the table and get us where we are now, which helped to bring in the Siva's and dzeko's.

The only real bad buys for me were RSC (known injuries) and Jo ( he was a gamble, had the reputation)

I think Boeteng / Kolarov and milner still need a bit more time. Milner gets played everywere across the midfield which makes it very hard for hime to get an understanding with the other players around him.
