The way we are set up to play, 9 out of 10 top quality keepers would struggle - Ederson is just really unusual in his distribution and his unflappability, and we really heavily depend on that. And Liverpool are probably the best pressing team in the country.

Yes, he fucked up today - horrible error - but of 2nd keepers we've had in recent years he's better than Bravo, Caballero, Carson...

Carson has never been our 2nd keeper and both Bravo & Caballero were much better than Steffen. They both single handedly won us finals & kept us in the competitions, where as Steffen has cost us a place in 2 finals due to errors in consecutive semis.

He’s nowhere near Bravo or even Caballero. Not even close. Bravo had a shaky start and got a lot of undeserved hate from a section of our fanbase who were in love with Joe Hart. It probably knocked his confidence being booed and jeered by his own fans and he never really regained it fully. Still though he was a top keeper and he showed that in our cup runs towards the end of his City career, as well as during his time at Barcelona and when he played for Chile.

Just seen some of the abuse Zak has had on social media and it's going too far
Ok he made a howler
I remember Allison doing it twice at Anfield when we beat them 4-1
:Yes I would have played Eddie
But the level of Pelters Zak is getting is out of order

Not surprised he's getting the Karius treatment from some of our dickhead fans. A truly embarrassing day for us both on and off the pitch.

Because no player is immune from injury and, should Eddie be out for weeks, you need a goalie who has had some play time to step in.

Not in anyway suggesting Steffen is the answer, but simply playing one keeper every game will eventually come back to bite
So how did United manage during their two decades of dominance?

Anyway, I’ve said, play second keeper in early rounds or against teams we should walk over, 4 defeats in 5 semis in the FA Cup shows that this stage of the comp is a step too far for Steffen.

The sub keeper in cups. Up there with anything in modern football for a fucking shambles. Even worse when you play like us
I have never personally understood this "must play 2nd choice in cup". League Cup maybe but thats it.

Apparently, Pep doesn't like to disrespect any trophy. Rotation is only an issue for outfield players, as such, he should always start with his best goalkeeper unless injured.

As I said yesterday, hindsight is a wonderful thing, but only if you learn from it. Steffen blew it at Wembley last season, and he did it again yesterday. Pep is a stubborn bastard.

Ederson was a ball hair away from similar last week, but yesterday highlighted the gulf between the two, especially in Pep's favourite thing which is ball playing ability.

No offence to Steffen, but I would wager everything I have that he'll never be our first choice keeper regardless of the manager (stuff like yesterdays fuck up has a habit of hanging around for the rest of a career the poor c**t).

Chin up lad.

Having taken time to reflect on things I think Steffan just isn't good enough - problem is 1st choice is so good who would be that good and come and play 2nd fiddle to Ederson. However - obvious aberration aside the 3rd and ultimately winning goal was down to him too. He was rooted to the centre of the goal leaving far to big a gap at the near post and no keeper should be getting beaten at his near post like that.

Awful 1st half performance but was much much better in the 2nd half. Can't understand why he took so long getting rid of the ball for the 2nd goal.

He will be on question of sports what happened next before he gets another game with us.

Unfortunately, there is a large drop off in terms of distribution from the back between the 2 keepers. Pep without a doubt should have played Ederson yesterday.
