His future might be on the left side until one of the two CB is dropping form, I hope he can be patient as this will help us keep the other two on their toes.
If Laporte can adapt to the left back role we will probably have the best defence in world football. A backline of Cancelo, Stones, Dias and Laporte is fantastic (with Fern and Rodri in front of them). Happy days.

Yes He can improve on his passing and offensive play along the way but in the mean time Gundogan and Rodri can cover the left and Cancelo and Silva/KDB on the right. Actually with this floating front four/five I don't think there is any point to assign sides, anyone can fill any gap there is.

He's similar to De Bruyne in terms of not having a fixed position and popping up wherever the team needs him.

Obviously, right back/ right wingback is his natural position. If we're facing rapid wingers who stay high up the pitch, he can play leftback with Kyle Walker on the right. If we're doubling up Bernardo/ Mahrez/ whoever on the right hand side like last night then Stones can cover that side for the counter and Cancelo can have free roam in the middle.

Can't even be arsed to talk about the technical stuff. Absolute class.

I just hope he stays happy here and carries on ironing out his flaws because I really think he could be in the top ten players on the planet soon.

It makes sense. But at the same time, tougher opposition will funnel our build up to Laporte, as his passing for some reason is nowhere near what it used to be. So there are pluses and minuses to playing him in those games. Zinchenko is almost perfect in the build up phase.

I doubt any team can funnel build up to Laporte when they play us. In reality it will be playing 3 CBs with Cancelo pushed to the mid/Wing.

We'd be solid all round

One interesting side effect of Laporte tucking in to LB is Zinchenko able to offer cover for midfield positions while KDB is out.

Good return, little bit slow with his passing, particularly first half but he's been out for a long time that's to be expected, happy to see him back and there's now some real competition.

Looked good but I did notice he's definitely the slowest of the 3 CBs now.
yes that's my only main concern, because he did well aerially and on the ball passing.

And with this back 3, the wide CBs need that bit more pace which is why Dias looks good when there.

Hopefully it doesn't become a crutch in the future, and he can manage it well.

As long as he's smart his pace shouldn't be a big issue, hopefully.

A bit like Zabaleta used to be.

Slotted in seamlessly as expected a class player who will get his fair share of games in the run-in , with four pots to go for , we will need players like Laporte also a good alternative at left back against more dangerous teams
