Appears he has been copping a lot of abuse online, not entirely sure why but hes now made his Twitter account private which is sad to see.

Absolutely disgraceful that he was forced to make his twitter account private due to abuse from "fans"

After watching the way Dias takes defending so seriously, Laporte has been reminding me a little of Van Dijk.

Absolute Rolls Royce players who dominate when the team overall is dominating, but struggle to stay switched on 100% of the time as they're rarely pushed.

I'd like to see him get more game time, especially alongside Dias, to remind him just how good he can be.

Quite incredible the moaning in the pre match threads when it was announced he was playing against Spurs and Everton as if he was some average CH coming in

I'm really disappointed, and only just reading about this hate he got.

Some fans are just way too crazy. Hopefully this doesn't affect him mentally.

I think people need to realise how impactful their words can be. More importantly, they need to realise how influential their words are.

When people in certain threads slag off the club or its players in an over the top way, they need to realise it has a toxic effect. It might seem like it's just contained to these boards, but there are probably a tonne of people who read these comments that aren't frequent posters, or posters at all. Seeing those comments like that as frequently as they do normalise them and make more easily influenced and naive minds think that they're ok to make.

If lots of people think it's ok, then it's only a matter of time before some of them decide to take it to the next level and go too far with it. And that's how comments go from just discussion between fans to abuse to the players.

Of course, Bluemoon itself has a smaller role to play than the likes of Twitter and Facebook and whatnot. But the fact is that there are a large collection of fans here regularly commenting and it's going to have a greater than zero impact in the wider scheme of things.

I'm against the idea of controlling opinion, but people at least should be educated in how to control their emotions a bit better when online and made aware of things on that front. Ok, we've all lost it here and there and have our own breaking points, but too many get triggered to easily and it creates an unstable and over the top discourse. Getting emotional discussing it with your mates is one thing, but on the internet it's there for the world to see.

What's he getting the abuse for anyway? Is it literally over a less than a perfect performance?

Disappointing.

This is the way things have headed towards nowadays, abuse via the internet and the social media platforms,I’d flush the scum out and either whack a heavy fine on their lap say £10,000 or jail the bastards for say 6 months absolute scumbags ..

One aspect of his play that's frustrating me is his long passing. Yesterday, he managed 1 out of 7 passes and his success rate is far lower than Dias and Stones'.

He has been brilliant for us. No proper fan would act in this way towards our players.

Top class CB. He's absence last season was a big miss. I really hope he does not leave the club because a lot of the fans have become proper muppets. I think each time the team suffer a lost the fans want half of the lineup sold. Laporte is the kind of player that seek approval, stability and recognition that he is doing a good job. That's how I felt about him during that crazy transfer saga a few years ago.
