14 | Nico Gonzalez - 2025/26

He's gone, Pep.can be ruthless when he wants to be. Seen enough of him now. Shame cause he had a spell when he looked pretty decent

There's been a dichotomy of stating that the number 6 position, especially in Pep's team, is the most important and then expecting a player to be able to come in, compare to the best 6 of his generation, and hit the ground running when he's hardly played for months. If you want the back up to step in seamlessly, keep him match fit with minutes with the first XI.

When Gundo, Bernardo, Nico O, Kovacic have played at 6 for us, they had already been getting game time in other roles or regular sub appearances. That hasn't really happened with Nico G. Ah well, he'll be off and we'll look for another

100%. Nico did a job as “mini Rodri” as pep called him for most of the season, maybe not starting him for 4 months and playing Rodri for every minute until he breaks down is bad player management? We end up losing Rodri to another injury and his replacement is stone cold.

Even if you think Pep only sees Nico as #6, which is weird given his experience playing other midfield roles, we definitely could have given Nico 15-20 minutes in half a dozen games to keep him in nick and give Rodri a break since Rodri came back in January.

I still think something has happened behind the scenes because Pep’s just never gone from being so hot on a player to so cold.

Completely agree - must be a happy faces aspect behind the scenes, which is a shame

I'll be amazed if he's not in the squad tomorrow. With Rodri still not available on Wednesday (and perhaps they know - tomorrow too), it wasn't worth him getting an injury midweek.

If he's not in the squad tomorrow then there's an issue (or he's got a knock).

I just do not understand why he's being treated like this.He was amazing for us before he got injured.

Why not just accept that we still have two important Premier League games next week, if Rodri doesn’t make it to half time, and Nico G got injured, we’d be fucked. It is a rotation thing.

I think if Rodri doesn’t make it to half time and Nico got injured we’d just….play the team we did vs Palace? When Rodri was injured and Nico still didn’t get in the team?

Delusional to think he’s not been picked to somehow safeguard the PL.
