14 | Nico Gonzalez - 2025/26

I thought he was excellent overall but his mistakes if he makes any tend to be highly visible but was pleased he got the very good deserved reception when sunbed. Getting better and travels well with the ball too.

I did say he was the one we needed! He’s found his feet and imo with be arguably the best in the world in two years in that DM role.

Good performance today, but needs to up the confidence he has in himself to play a forward ball into Foden, Haaland and Reijnders’ feet as he declined the pass numerous times today.

Still very good though.

Very good again, and can be upgraded when you take into account the number of starts he's had

Loved when he chased Ndiaye back and slid in and won the ball

Think there's a serious player there if we can workout who needs to play alongside him

Assuming Rodri isn't fit by the way, as I do think he'll be in stop/start mode for a while

Donnaruma Dias and Gonzalez are a plodding trio progressing play from the back.
He was decent today but is very right footed limiting his ability to play quickly, and prone to get caught on the ball from behind.

Agree. As a side note: I thought Ndiaye was quality.

Agree who plays next to him is key. He looked better when Rjeinders went off. I really like him got great vision and weight of pass. Lacks a yard of pace but he’s defo getting better and better

A model to young players out there who have talent but no pace (in reality you can't imagine how fast he really is). Anyway, another very neat and tidy performance. Well done, Nico.

Nice and tidy for the most part, threw his weight into several challenges and was trying to keep the ball moving. Good performance

I think getting the one next to him is important to .
Fwiw I think we already have plenty of creative types and I think Rico might fit the profile rather than Reinders being a bit more feisty and more of a link up player. Then again I suppose it's hard to look past a fit Kova too. Someone of that ilk anyway.. Think Reinders should be more advanced, not engine room

He was good today bar a couple of moments where he was dispossessed too easily. If he could add a bit of strength to his game he would improve no end.
Think it will be his lack of pace & mobility that will do for him. Though don't know if the other prospects (Wharton, Anderson etc) are better

Getting better every week, it's almost as if he was one of the top midfielders in a strong Portuguese league and a former La Masia product

Glad Pep finally trusts him, if Rodri is fit he plays but if there are any doubts or niggles the Nico steps in and does the role well
