14 | Nico Gonzalez - 2025/26

Opinions in this forum are fucking hilarious. Rodri has at times looked back to his best recently, in a midfield with Nico O'Reilly & Bernardo, where we still have been losing control for large stretches of games. He's also been sent off against Bodo and lucky not to be sent off against Spurs.

Nico G has a mediocre game in an uninspired team performance with Rico Lewis alongside him, as part of 9 changes to the team. While trying to regain the rhythm he had before Christmas. And that immediately makes him dogshit. Hilarious

Has he shagged Pep’s wife or something? Today would’ve been great for him to come into IMO, some bite in there at a time where we were digging deep.
True, some bite would have been nice so I don't know why anyone would want Nico to have come on to shy away from wanting the ball to then taking fifty touches too many when he has it

Thought the same…surely putting Gonzalez on for the injured O’Reilly made more sense in midfield than sticking on a lightweight Reijnders.

Him & Rodri would have provided a bit of steel in midfield especially towards the end of the game where Leeds were launching it.

I think Pep wanted to keep some attacking threat, which Nico doesn't really bring much of, I thought Reijjnders was OK today (not a great fan so far either).

Pep bringing on Savio was the attacking sub which should have helped us on the counter.

Also bringing on Reijnders for the attack was bit of an overkill & also meant Rodders needing to cover even more ground.

I for one would love to see a Gonzalez & Rodri double-pivot especially when we’re leading to close the back door & thought this was an ideal opportunity.

Reijnders has his strengths, but throwing him in on at a boisterous Elland Rd, in a combative, fast & furious midfield isn’t one of them.

He was getting there before Xmas yet now he’s not getting a look-in

I quite like him but, let’s have it right, he hasn’t got 90 Premier League minutes in him.

He’s not as good as some say in here. Turns too slow, needs too long before he passes and also makes it obvious every time where he’s going to pass to.

Doubt he will ever be a pure starter.

Pep has to give Rodri minutes, it's the only way he gets back to his best. Unfortunately, despite playing a big part early season, Nico is the fall guy at the moment. I still think he has what It takes to step in when Rodders is out or needs resting and seeing Rodri at his best will learn him a lot. The future is bright for this kid.

might have gone a little too deep with two holding

Some of the takes in this thread are absolutely horrific.

Nico G was joint player of the season before his injury and thankfully Rodri coming back. He surprised many with how rapidly he was improving in that 6 position to the point he was getting “Better than Rodri’s first year” comparisons.

First we are comparing him in that 6 to Fernandinho (A PL all timer) and Rodri (Ballon D’or winner). He is 23/24 and has been here barely a year coming from Spain/Portugal where he was primarily used as an 8. In fact he is an 8 that CAN play a 6 but he has to be given time to learn how to play that 6 in England where he has been stellar.

I respect opinions but have true disdain when people comment without nuance. We get rid of Nico G who else do we get that’s better but happy to hold bench for Rodri? Wharton? Would he be happy to sit on bench when he could start elsewhere? Kmt.

I think the word you might have been searching for is "cesspit".

Lots of posts are simply shameful and a disgrace towards our players, especially if posted by genuine City supporters.

Expected from infantile rag and dipper lowlife however.
