14 years ago today - last game at Maine Road

Yeah we played and lost to Leeds at under 18 level which is the last official game on the pitch.

I believe there was also a pay per play fans game sanctioned by the club after that as well.

Yeah i was at that too, was pissed off that the stewards in the main stand (the only stand open) rushed us out.. i mean ffs it was our last look after a last match by a proper city competitive team, it was important. Made me determined to keep going back.. i went a few times but it was the supporters clubs matches for a few weeks after that, but then when those were done, "scottish Mike" as i used to call him on the door let me in, and i claim the last goal scored at Maine Road... i mean ok it was with an invisible ball but hey i kicked off from the centre spot, ran to the north stand goal, and scored a cracker, running off to celebrate! Great day, sad times, but a good memory ;)

I lived in Hulme as a kid. When I moved to Manchester at 11 I adopted united as my team as that's who my friends supported. One day weekend a friend from high school (st Thomas of aquinas) invited me to go to Maine Road as it was only £5 in. After that i aligned my self to City all through the 90's and going quite regularly. I moved back to Glasgow but always kept a wee eye on the city scores. I visited Manchester once and my last game at Maine Road was against Swindon and city won 6-0 with Kinkladze putting on his usual master class. I've been to the new ground a few times once for a Manchester derby and we thrashed united 3-1 if I recall. Fowler with a goal sticks out. More recently I was in the home end supporting the away team when we played you lot in the champions league. When city came to Celtic I live near the stadium and I saw city fans lost. I invited them in gave them a drink, phoned a taxi and had a wee chat about the 90's and visiting Maine Road. A special stadium that will always hold a wee place in my heart.

My dad and me went we parked were his dad use to get of the bus and followed in his foot steps to Maine Road. It was very emotional to think of grandad looking down on us. Thanks to my grandad we as a family are now into our 5th generation of City fans. We might not live in Manchester but our kids and grandkids know their parents/ grandparents are proud mancs. This is our roots !!

I went to the Leeds game and it was hardly advertised IIRC almost as though they didn't want anybody to turn up.
