Not against any decent teams he isnt...neither is rodri however......id say rodri is slightly better defensively whereas gundogan reycles the ball slightly better (albeit sideways and backwards mostly)

Neither are good enough in reality
 
No real improvement, we just decided to play around him more than through him. Felt like every second instruction you could hear Pep screaming was to Rodri. The defence passed it around the back a lot quicker and kdb and Gundogan playing off the wide men who received the ball much earlier were effective.

Did recover a fair few balls well when we had sustained high pressure around their box and helped to maintain that to his credit.
 
In a few games last year and this year we have been so static ahead of him he has got caught on the ball a few times. Also without the work rate of Jesus our forwards don't close down as much, which allows quick counters meaning his lack of pace gets exposed. Tonight we had movement and work rate up top and that allowed him to step in and quickly move the ball - that is his strength and once his confidence gets higher you will see a wide range of passing and some good efforts from distance. He's still only young but tonight I think you saw the player he can be for us.
 
It's only fair to judge him on a game to game basis and tonight he was decent. Regardless of the opposition, you can only play your own game and I've no complaints on tonight's showing.
 
Funny how result determines opinion

rodri is stable in overall but was better in some aspects against west ham

today he had an average game but team was attacking better

love this player but hate his pace sometimes...
