Thought that was one of his best games for us. Swept up everything well and gave us some much needed backbone for Bernardo and Phil to flutter about around. Did almost everything well and was a very strong performance

That said he wasn't having to press himself so much so wasn't caught out of position which is consistently a problem for him, but having the legs of Bernardo with him in midfield and if we press like that further ahead of him then hopefully that won't be a problem. I think Gundo being out was a blessing in disguise today and Bernie has to start with Kev and Rodri in midfield from here on in. Gundo, Kev and Rodri in the middle doesn't have enough zip and legs and it seems to work a million times better when Bernie is in there (and playing as well as that)

It's a perfect duo.

If Rodri's giant legs don't get there, then the little engine that could will.

I prefer this moreso than the Gundogan-Bernie pivot because it lacks physicallity.
 
What a performance from rodri today massive factor in keeping them hemmed in with possession and also winning it back so quickly. What a player and as others have said what a combo with Bernardo today!
