Rodri looks exhausted. Playing 2 matches a week is absolutely brutal for our players but especially Rodri given he has to put in a full 90 for us to win.

Week off should do wonders for him. Also 70 matches unbeaten is fucking unreal. What a player.

I wonder how many players in the big leagues have gone unbeaten in 70 games at club level. That's a genuinely insane run.

The hardest part is finding that player who could really cover Rodri.
It doesn't exist and Pep takes every single game as serious as anyone so why would you swap your most important player and take a chance, it just doesn't happen. Look at how many games Busquets used to play for Pep.

Rodri will get rest when there is literally no game to be played.

The issue is Rodri's form is suffering and he is already spoken out about the amount of game time he is getting. Could do with bringing in better cover.

I don't disagree. I just don't think better cover exists really. I mean arguably anyone is better than what we have now which is, nobody, but Kovacic is probably the closest we have. I dont think Pep would trust him in that position alone against 99% of teams we face though.

Never going to happen and nor should it but it would be incredibly beneficial for him if he were to skip the euros and take a long break this summer. Imperative we sort out a better solution so we don't flog him, he will break if we continue. I'd take bruno from newcastle all day he can play alongside and instead of Rodri and would be a great addition. Failing that, I don't think there's a better option than John Stones, get deeper defensive options this summer so we have more than 6 defenders at the club and he could play more in midfield, his unreliable fitness record could be stumbling block however.

Stones is not a good option for DM as he lacks the ability to complete, say, 80 passes per game. He completes about 50 passes per game which is not what a Rodri replacement is supposed to do.

In short, there's a world of difference between playing alongside Rodri and replacing Rodri. People are conflating both when they think of Stones as a potential replacement for Rodri. Besides, Rodri is a lot fitter than Stones, a DM runs a lot more than a CB.

Guimaraes would be a good option, though.
