Took the game by the throat last night... that chance he made out of nothing that hit the bar....I sensed made the whole team realise Dortmund were shite at the back aswell as shit scared of making a mistake, and sticking to the plan will get it’s rewards. A true leader in every sense of the term.

Deserved a goal for that epic run. And he knew he just needed to lash that one in.

But just an excellent performance. Slowed it down and controlled the pace of the game when needed and then accelerated things when required.

Very much how I'm seeing it. They're the players we're looking to and have really dug us out of trouble in both legs of that QF. Great for them but could do with a couple of others regaining top form again because Cancelo, Gundo, possibly Rodri, Stones and maybe a couple more aren't quite where they were a month or so back. Although the bar they set then was very high I think a few of them will have to get closer to it if we're likely to beat psg

Think you're right about kdb and foden pulling us through the tie, but that's unfair on gundogan and stones.

Gundogan did a hell of a lot more defencively than rodri last night, pressing and intercepting, nipping back in from behind Dortmund players. Just because his scoring has slowed a bit doesn't mean his performances have dipped.

Stones was the best player on the pitch against Leeds despite the goal at the end, where he was dead on his feet. Last night he was up against haaland who manhandled Diaz the previous game.

Ederson, Diaz, stones, kdb, foden, and mahrez are the current spine. With laporte coming back into form there's an argument to be made, but it's still stones who we want in the biggest games if fatigue isn't an issue. Cancelo was there, but he has dipped drastically from where he was. Rodri too.

There is no spine without Bernardo..

Otherwise Kev wouldn't be playing false9 - in 3 playoff games now including Gladbach.

I still don't think he's hit top form. That's pretty frightening to think about.

Last night was a captain's performance.
I think if we have a top top striker up front running behind the defenses, we can make full use of Kev's amazing passes. Don't get me wrong, Kev has been fantastic. I just think Kev's at his absolute best when he's given more options up front.

A striker, say maybe a tall Norwegian will do?

I’m in the same camp - just pay the money for the Norwegian.

Granted I haven’t looked into how well Kev links up with Lukaku in the national side, but we haven’t really seen how his game might expand with a sizeable target to drop through balls into. It could just be another untapped option.

I think a striker coming in will result in an uptick in Raz’s performances too - he does better for England with Kane taking on all the defenders’ attention.

That was a great performance. Not everything came off for him, there’s better to come from him if he wants it(!), but his influence on the game was there from first to last minute at the very highest level of influence.

I thought every other player struggled for most of the first half, but de Bruyne wasn’t struggling!

Something, in the Champions League/European Cup that no City player has ever been able to do before. As good as Kompany Yaya DSilva and Kun were for this club, none of them put in truly elite performances in the CL for us. (Saying that, Gundogan has put in a few excellent performances now as well, maybe not quite truly elite yet though)

More of that in the coming round(s) or coming years in the biggest games, and he’ll go down in history as the best ever player for this club.
