Should be confirmed number one now. Bit more work needed on distribution but this fella is some goalie. If Ederson leaves anytime soon, we go in the market for a number two to Ortega.

I agree in the immediate term but we’re going to need three new keepers soon.

Ortega will be 33 next season and we’ll need to replace Carson too, assuming he officially moves into a coaching role.

We’ve left ourselves in more than a bit of a pickle on the keeper front.

I thought his distribution to Haaland was great and something we could really do with as he can hold the ball well but we need runners in midfield.

Ortega should be our first choice now and I’m presuming Ederson is going in the summer. It happens, he’s been great for us and we wouldn’t have won what we have without him.

But we also wouldn’t have won 4 in a row without Ortega at Spurs.

Give him the chance, give him the number 1 shirt to show faith. Sign someone to challenge him like he’s been doing the last few years and then we might just have his replacement when needed.

His passing out gives me the shits , he dithers and he is not a sweeper with good feet , i want eddie back in. When he didnt come out when ake asked him to that was an accident waiting to happen. Eddie would have been out and probably got it before nathan. The defence dont trust him, thank god for nathan covering the goal line

The best thing Ortega did though, was when he came out later on and realised he'd misjudged it, he stayed on his feet and forced the player wide, which resulted in Ake clearing. Ederson in the same situation doesn't back out and gives penalties away or gets red carded if it's outside the box.

I would have expected Ederson to be back in by now tbh, makes me wonder if he'll be leaving in the summer. Ortega isnt really a long-term option, so wouldn't be surprised if we've got our eyes on someone. Most keepers now are fairly good with their feet, I'd hope we could find someone consistently good at coming for crosses as well.

I actually wondered if he got a bit lucky there mate. He shouldn’t have come out so far in the first place. When Wissa burst past him i don’t think he was ever close enough to dive in. Either way it was good he didn’t. I don’t have a problem with him playing. We’ve got a lot more areas of the pitch to worry about!

Totally agree with what you're saying - he messed up, but at least he stayed coolheaded enough to not compound it by taking the player out.

I like Ortega, think his passing is good, think he's great on one on ones and reaction saves. Only issue I have is he doesn't come and claim crosses and at the moment we are so weak at defending them that it would really help.

When you look at mate we look like we have made a mess of nearly position going. We had it we where champions and had got to the top by hard work and great recruitment and then we sat on our hands and she the ultimate sin in football by standing still .

Yep.

Not helped by several players hitting a brick wall at the same time and injuries, but a lot of this is down to Pep, Txiki and the recruitment team taking their eye off the ball after the treble.

It worked out for us as Ake cleared it but it was his indecision that left him in no man's land and too far away to do anything but be a statue, if Ortega was close enough, he goes for it too as we saw against Liverpool and Leicester when he gave away a penalty and would have given one away but for an offisde call.

Ederson is at least decisive, he's coming for it with no hesitation, he'll get caught out doing it, just as Ortega will but he'll sweep and save us plenty too and the defenders can be sure that he's coming out when balls are played in behind. Ortegas indecisiveness gives him less chance of getting to balls behind he's coming for and leaves the defenders unsure too, it's not a favourable trait. It's worked in our favour this time but that's only because of poor finishing on their part.

Was he ok today ? He’s normally a very competent keeper.

Everyone has a bad day at the office, I’ll keep faith in him
