I can't stand Bayern, they remind me of United, having a monopoly on the German Bundesliga title for god knows how long. 1860 seem to me to be the Munich peoples club, just like our beloved City.

Indeed they are, both of them ;-) .
Wow. What a raggy thing to say.

The username might be a giveaway as to his allegiances!

Until 20 years ago it certainly was like this. In the city there was more fans from 1860 - in the region more Bayern fans. Same with politics - the city is reigned by the SPD (Social party of Germany), the region by the CSU (christian socialist union). But 1860 in the recent years was a club that was badly led - that struggled between 3rd and 1st league. So even in the city Bayern meanwhile has an as big fan base. There is even a lot people that want both teams to fare well - the differences between the clubs just got too big.

Some might still live in a history from far back before the 70s when 1860 had times they have been better - before the Beckenbauer-Müller-Maier-Time. But that is more than 45 years ago...

There are certainly some parallels between Manchester and Munich...

Been to watch 1860 a few times at the Olympiastadion, not had a trip to Munich that's coincided with a home game since the opening of the Allianz though. Glad they seem to be turning the corner in terms of their finances though, even if it came at the cost of Bayern fucking them over whilst playing the role of saviour with the purchase of their half of the stadium.

I went to watch 1860 last May at the Allianz Arena, great fans and a top day out recommend it to all.

Went back to Munich in September and found the Bayern fans slightly more raggy and arrogant however the Munich lads on here have always been top class.

Success will always bring a certain amount of arrogance, or perceived arrogance, with it. That will happen at City too, it's inevitable. If you win things you brag about it, it's human nature.
If 1860 were more successful they'd have a lot to say about it too.

I lived in and around Munich for 11 years and count many "Sechziger" among my friends, the fact is that in attitude, knowledge of the game, good to go out for a few pints with etc etc they are absolutely no different to the Bayern fans I know down there. I'm not talking about the glory hunters but about the lads that go to the games. I've been home and away with 1860 just as I have with Bayern and they both love a beer or ten and a game.

The myth that Sechzig have the most support in Munich is just that, a myth. They have a hardcore loyal support but I remember when they were in the Bayernliga in the early 90's hearing about when they got back in the BL they'd show us who was the best supported team and so on.
Well they did and it just never happened. Bear in mind that as I wasn't born in Munich I have no axe to grind with Sechzig, they are just another team to me so I feel no need to criticise out of hate because I don't hate them.
Most Bayern fans, even those born in Munich, reserve their dislike for other clubs atm, 1860 are off the radar. The real hate game in Bavaria is Bayern v Nürnberg.
