1860 or Bayern Munchen?

I can't stand Bayern, they remind me of United, having a monopoly on the German Bundesliga title for god knows how long. 1860 seem to me to be the Munich peoples club, just like our beloved City.

They are the german Man city in my books.. always in the shadows but great support..been up and down a few times too.

Perhaps we should twin with them..

We went to an 1860 game a few years ago, and though the top tier of the Allianz (what a fantastic stadium) was closed, the atmosphere was still great.

Die Löwen are my preferred team in München, as I hate FC Bayern almost as much as I hate scum. I hope their financial problems are behind them and that they're soon back in the 1. Bundesliga.

To be fair, in my experience Bayern fans are not arrogant or anything in person.

If I ever moved to Munich though (not likely, as Mark Twain said, ''life is too short to learn German'' - and he wasn't exaggerating) I would support/follow 1860.

1860 all the way. Cannot stand Bayern. Sick of the sycophantic German media fawning over everything Beckenbauer says or does. If it happens to Bayern, it's big news. Any one else, it's not worth reporting.

They indeed have a pretty strong local support and have gone through a lot in their history.

They were down to the "Bayernliga" but where the first team to get directly from the Bayernliga through all classes to the Bundesliga in 93/94.

They played in the top tier for I think 10 years and managed to play in the Uefa Cup, reached the qualification for the Champions League and overall played pretty attractive football with the likes of Thomas Häßler, Martin Max, Jens Jeremies and a few others.

They are now back in the second division and are usually ending up somewhere in the middle/upper part of the table.

If I remember correctly their leading Ultra Group (Cosa Nostra) is no longer attending their home matches since the last 2(?) years as they refuse to share the arena with their arch enemy Bayern München.

Hence the atmosphere at home games is a bit dire at the moment, however they are still going on away fixtures to support their team.

If anyone is ever visiting Munich its definitely worth to check if either 1860´s or Bayern´s second teams are playing. Both fan groups are pretty passionate about their second teams and the atmosphere is usually miles better than what you see in the Allianz Arena during the matches of the first team.

Definitely 1860 I can't stand the arrogance of the Bayern supporters and their board members they are too many similarities between them and the rags

Always for me its been,1860-Espanyol-Athletico-Torino-St Pauli-Partick that I have felt close to as we like them live next to a Coca Cola brand while drinking Vimto.
