19 | Ilkay Gundogan - 2024/25

Given how honest Gundo is I’m almost surprised that he’s not pulled Pep aside and said I’m not what the team needs right now.

He needs benching, what I would give to see an O’Reilly or a Wright being given a chance, young lads with more energy is what this team are crying out for.

Considering the relationship those two have, Gundo has to have stressed that at this point. No way should we be relying on a 34 year old to be in our top 5 for minutes played.

The old adage of never go back has neve been truer than this case.....HUGE mistake on the boards part bringng him back - for one of he first times since the takeover the board really got this wrong - yes there have been other bad trasnfers but THIS was the epitomy of panic and revisionism on their part....they throught backwards for the first time and its backfired HUGELY

He was a free transfer after Barca released him. It made perfect sense to take a flyer on him.

Hes having to play a lot more than he should do in a position he doesn't have the legs for at 34 because of the giant fucking injury crisis.

I'm not saying he's playing well, but acting like this was some disastrous decision by the board to sign him is just bullshit. Nobody is playing well at the moment.

He was worth taking a punt on to get a leader most of the squad already knew and a rotation option where we're pretty thin already. It's on the board that we didn't get a replacement or rotation option for Rodri which brought everything crumbling down.

Exactly. The big failure here is not being able to get in one actual ball playing defensive mid.

Hell, get Kalvin Phillips back from his loan, just fucking do something.
