19 | Ilkay Gundogan - 2024/25

I think Simpson Pusey was more out of necessity.
Of the younger players, he wouldn't have been near the top of the list.
I don't know enough about the young lads to know how good they are other than their cameo appearances for the first team.
I don't think one kid getting time will add to the problem but may not necessarily improve it either. What is essential is to get fast legs onto the pitch and to allow injured players time to recuperate fully.
I watched Athletico against Barcelona at the weekend and the non stop running and closing down by Alvarez, Gallagher and the rest of the Athletico team was remarkable.
Nothing fancy, just pure athleticism and determination.
Same with the rest of the kids. If Pep rated the current EDS kids they would have been given a chance. Phil Foden is the Benchmark

Now that Kovacic is fit, there is no good reason for Gundogan to be picked.
If he does continue to be picked, nothing is going to change
Kova was fit and started vs. Villa. Pep still started Gundo and Bernardo...IMO nothing is going to change.

Palmer didn't perform to any of his current standards at City. Can't ignore either.
You don’t see part of the role as spotting potential and nurturing it?

As I recall, Palmer was always one of the best in class. Pep must have seen that in EDS matches and in training. He didn’t excel in our first team largely because he wasn’t given much opportunity and was sold on because he didn’t bow and scrape. So he backed himself and as soon as somebody did the same (ie Chelsea) he truly flourished.

Even through your glow of hero worship you must see this. But zero chance of you admitting it.

Nurtring talent? Foden is the prime example of what could happen.

You know what’s gonna happen don’t you. He’ll drop both of them or one of them and we’ll win and then he’ll start them both the game after and we’ll get beat
And some will say it was the right thing to do regardless, lol...
