Still worth keeping. Could have easily let him go to Galatasray for nothing if Pep didn't think he had some part to play for the coming season and wouldn't have started last night either.

I’m at the point with him, and others to be fair, that I know he can do A job, but also know he can no longer do THE job.
You can see such comment for a lot players
We have basically become a team of backups and substitute

A lot of player worth keeping as back and can do the job but who will take initiative be the actual leader in pitch and win us matches when every player is pretending to be a bit part player?

Well he did "win" us a match at Fulham a few short weeks ago that got us jnto the CL next season. Not saying he's anything other than a squad player next year though, bug he is nearly 35 !

Hopefully he does go to Galatasaray. One can only hope.

If Gala wants to pay a fee but they would have wanted him on a free first and foremost. Besides that iff he was that close to a move he wouldn't have been involved as much in the CWC.

Pep needs to find his “Starting XI” and make it clear that they are who they are and anyone else who wants to start a game has to show that in training or their 20 minute cameos. Beyond that, it’s giving them a rest when able.

We could have a 10,000 post thread on who that Starting XI should be come August, but I’m not sure many on here will like Pep’s choice, unless he (or Viana!) is cutthroat with some of the aged talent.

If not now, when? We do not go into the season as favorites (Liverpool) and its season 1 of 2 proposed for Pep’s rebuild. Let’s see what the youngsters and new guys have and then be equally cutthroat next summer, so that the squad is ready, willing and able to win everything in ‘27!

I feel bad but now that bernardo is captain, I think Gundo has to go or some genuinely talented players are going to go to waste to appease a 35 year old, legend of the club or not we just cant do that.

For me, he is still quality and can still be impactful. Positions are not given, they are earned/taken. If the talented players are truly talented, take the position from him. Pep can be stubborn, yes, but if such a talented player is putting in man-of-the-match performances, Gundo is not going to play over them! Problem is, they are not, yup looking you Nico (even though I believe in your talent).

He won’t be a squad player as long as he’s still here and Pep is still manager, so we need to sell him before that can happen

It's not that I particularly want him to leave, it's just that if we have to reduce the size of the squad it makes so much sense for him to be one of the one who leaves.

And by all means bring him back as an assistant coach in a few years, if it's a good fit for both sides.

Someone has to leave and as dumb it sounds and maybe disrespectful it’s most likely that the older guys leave - especially in a rebuild.
Madrid are giving up Modric as an example and he is still their most creative CM

Let’s hope him and Bernardo stay fit as they are gonna be our lynchpin midfield this season and when Rodri can’t make ut then gundo will be the one stepping into his shoes .

It's not dumb nor disrespectful. Gundo needs moving on.

So you believe we're winning nothing?

So Nico will spend the season scratching his arse on the bench , is Nico the new Phillips?
